Purchased a Toro Walk Behind Mower from Home Depot in April of 2014.  Paid approximately $420 fro the mower.  Used mower the spring, summer, fall of 2014.  Changed oil at the end of the 2014 mowing season in the midwestern US.  Used Toro Brand oil to change oil.  Used mower in the spring & summer of 2015 mowing season up until late June 2015 at which time mower started making metallic clanking noises and died.  As a mechanic, I always check the level of motor oil prior to begin mowing, as well as the level of fuel.  Oil level was always in the OK range on the dipstick.  Took mower to local Toro Dealer in Crown Point, IN (Gruel Brothers) who looked at mower and said they determined the engine to be blown due to insufficient oil.  This is complete bull&%*.  When the motor finally died on it's last use, I did check the level when it would not start and again it was well within the spec range, however there was a definite metallic appearance to the oil (not good).  The local Toro Dealer said that we could appeal the warranty by paying to ship the motor to their facilities, but advised against it.  He noted another woman had brought her mower in a few months prior with the same problem and appealed the warranty.  She paid to send it back & Toro still denied the claim....Thus she was out the mower & the cost of shipping.  People should be aware of Toro's Practices and their extremely poor quality.  Please note it was their 22in Recycler Lawn Mower with a Briggs & Stratton Engine (725 Series Motor).
