There are so many caveats to the Total Protect Warranty policies. Total Protect Warranty from Cross Country Home Services denies legitimate claims submitted after the repair.  You have to call them first, even when it's an emergency on Christmas Eve.  Our hot water heater failed on December 24, 2012.  We had to go to a hotel to bathe and called a plumber we knew to be reasonable and responsible.  He had it fixed within 24 hours.  When we submitted the paperwork, Total Protect took 6 weeks to review.  They tried to first tell me this was due to a preexisting condition with the water heater, but ultimately came back with the fact that they deny everything that doesn't first go through them.  There are more understanding, compassionate home warranty companies out there.  Total Protect is just trying to maintain high profit margins and hoodwink new customers into thinking they're protected.
