My husband and I bought a conversion van in 1997. There was a problem with the brakes right away. The dealership kept telling us that there was no problem (a few times). I ended up hitting a deer, my garage door and almost hitting a wall of a local business. We took it to the dealership and was told again that there was nothing wrong. Mind you, this all happened while it was under warrenty, except the garage door. The dealership refused to back up their product, after the warrenty was off, saying that we did not bring it in. I have the invoices to say that we did. Needless to say, we ended up paying $1200 to fix the brakes. The computer that runs the anti-locks, was faulty. The anti-locks weren't working either.

My other car is a mustang that came with an alarm system already installed. The alarm keeps discharging the battery. This is a 2004. This should not be happening. The car is only driven in the summer months. The convertible top keeps binding also. The dealership won't fix either problem. The car is still under warrenty. They are saying that the alarm is not included in the sale of the car. I drove it off the showroom floor with this alarm already installed. It came with the car. It should be covered with the warrenty. We didn't ask for this alarm. It was a good selling point.

The top to the covertible sometimes binds. There are wear marks on the vinyl. The dealership won't even touch this, as it doesn't act up when they have it in their shop. You can see where the top is getting pinched.

Ford: Great Cars and Trucks, Terrible Service

AUTHOR: charliekoopa - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, February 15, 2010

I worked in the "industry" for several years at one of the dealers just down the road from Tousley (the one with the big red planet that is going out of business...got laid off from them last summer..) anyway I know all about the woes of trying to get your vehicle serviced if the problem is "obscure" in any way. I had a similar issue with another metro Ford dealer's service department. Being an auto mechanic and owning a vehicle that is still under factory warranty I thought I had an advantage in being able to describe and pinpoint the issues better than average people, but I was wrong. Basically the same run-around you got, and the problem never got fixed. I contacted the service department, and the manager, and after continuing to get shoved around even contacted Ford Customer Care and had several conversations with them over the phone and by email. Long story short I never got anything fixed, they never found any problems, and Ford wanted nothing to do with helping me when I was in or out of factory warranty.
My suggestion would be to contact as many people related to, or not related to, the Tousley Ford service department, and if nothing gets accomplished that way, then contact Ford Customer Care. If you have a way to "prove" that there was an issue that was brought up by you and not addressed or fixed (such as receipts or work orders from when there was "no problem found" or "could not duplicate", AND the bill for the repair of the brakes) that would be best. The more incriminating evidence you have, the better. Ford doesn't like to be any form of sympathetic unless you have evidence in writing.
