I have been on hold trying to change my Plane ticket this morning since 1030am and it is now 130pm and still no resolve. As a matter of fact when they changed it they said it was an extra 300.00 dollars of which I am still trying to figure that out. The original trip was taking place from Clarksville TN to Seattle WA and the new place is taking place from Salt Lake City UT to Seattle WA same dates. I know for a fact that a plane ticket roundtrip is 380.00 on Travelocity not including taxes so how can a plane ticket that originally cost 636.70 from Clarksville TN cost 300.00 more from Salt Lake City UT still going to Seattle WA? I am still on hold and keep getting transferred. The dates that I am flying is on the 21st of Nov and coming back on the 25th of November. They said there is openings and it wouldn't be a problem. This is outrageous and I would suggest to anybody thinking about flying not to use Travelocity as they have demonstrated clear and precise Price Gouging

Your an idiot I know there is a airport in Nashville not Clarksville but I live in Clarksville. I don't know what airline you work and do not care. Just stop because I am tired of explaining to you and it will never change. There is no difference in dates or time just outgoing destination like I have stated and stated secondly I have told you time and time again that it costs 300.00-400.00 dollars for the ticket and that the 300.00 is on top of the original ticket of 636.77 of which I do not understand why it costs 900.00 to fly from Salt Lake City Utah to Seattle Washington when it is 636.77 from "Nashville" or airport code BNA to SEA "Seattle".

Tunnel Vision

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

You know sometimes I just wish that some people would take their head out of their a** long enough to actually take a look at what is being written.

So I am assuming you work for the airlines or travelocity and monitor these websites to discourage consumers from reporting negative items.

-So even though you never mentioned what airline you somehow think that I am some person who works for every airline to make sure nothing negative is even posted...even though I told you that the reason you are being charged is because of the airlines policy.  Yep you make total sense.  Well at least you didn't say I worked for Travelocity..oh wait you did.  Guess you had to cover all of your bases.

Furthermore I simply pointed out with the picture regardless of your dispute that it costs 300.00-400.00 for the ticket so why does it cost 900.00+ dollars for the ticket of which your are strongly disputing
- Well first your picture was a single price with zero additional detail..but as I said I will take it for a fact that you are correct in the price you were saying.  In addition not only am I not disputing your claim, if you actually read what I wrote I am asking the exact same thing as to why you are being charged over $900.    The only difference between your comments and my "dispute" is that I asked several questions that if you got the answer to would most likely explain where the cost difference is.  Not that you would agree, but at least you would have an answer.

Have you at anytime asked Travelocity why the difference in price?   What did they say?

Well I've gone about as far as I can with you so unless you are willing to help yourself by finding out the information, you are more than free to continue to wallow in your apparent lack of knowledge about your itinerary.

Oh and if I really wanted to get nit-picky I would have mentioned that there is not even an commercial airport in Clarksville TN, the closest airport would be Nashville.  But since I don't want to get this nit-picky I won't mention it.

Look Sir or Madam

I respect your knowledge and ability to rebut such things as I strongly feel that you work or affiliated with the agency as I suggested in the photo a picture of the price. You responded that you do or do not know where it came from. I simply suggested you do further research and you simply keep stating that is the normal price. So I am assuming you work for the airlines or travelocity and monitor these websites to discourage consumers from reporting negative items. I respect you and respect your job but I simply stated from the first outcome that they are charging me an extra 300.00 on top of the 636.70 i already paid for. Furthermore I simply pointed out with the picture regardless of your dispute that it costs 300.00-400.00 for the ticket so why does it cost 900.00+ dollars for the ticket of which your are strongly disputing which again I must point you must work for an airline or travel agency. I am not saying to take one side I am simply stating that you should look further as I have stated before that the claim I am suggesting is implying price gouging and non-customer satisfaction. Here is the math simply not saying again it is accurate as I am sure you will dispute this with your quick wit and one sided views. If the plane ticket cost 636.70 from point a to point b but the passenger changes to another location nearer point b which is a difference of 249.70 with a cost of change at 190.00 to make the change what is the difference? Answer 59.70

Then what's the problem...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

You show a screen shot of a web site that may or may not be Travelocity, it may or may not be for a flight from SLT to SEA, it may or may not be for leaving on November 21st and returning on November 25th.  But to avoid having you post more pictures trying to prove this point(that doesn't really matter) for the purposes of this report let's say it is everything you said it is.

So with that in mind this fare for an itinerary that is acceptable to you is about $50-$60 less than prices on other sites.  So this can't be the RipOff.

I know for a fact that a plane ticket roundtrip is 380.00 on Travelocity not including taxes so how can a plane ticket that originally cost 636.70 from Clarksville TN cost 300.00 more from Salt Lake City UT still going to Seattle WA?
- So perhaps you can explain in a bit more detail exactly how they are charging you $936 for the exact same flight?

I am 95% sure what is going on and I believe it is just the fact that you do not understand how Airfares work.  I'm not really going to bother to try to re-explain supply and demand where  you are traveling on the two busiest travel days of the year. I also already went over how you most likely got a restricted fare ticket that has a change fee.  But just to add to that in that this change fee is set by the airline and not Travelocity and it is only valid on that airline.

So if for example you were on Delta for your original tickets, you must be on Delta for the new tickets as well even if they are more.  It doesn't matter if the lowest fare is now on United..your tickets are with Delta and to do a change you must stay with the more expensive flight on Delta if you want to change.

You can see this by just looking at a few items.
What itinerary(flight #'s and airline) were you on in your original flight
What itinerary(flight #'s and airline) is Travelocity quoting you for the change
What itinerary(flight #'s and airline) is the one you found the lowest fare for.

There is of course one other option.  Just forget doing a change and just buy the new tickets outright.   According to what you are writing this will save you around $500, and you may even be able to still cancel your first flight and have a small credit toward a future flight.

I sure you have looked but I am afraid you are mistaken I have a picture to show it is 377.00 for round trip not the 450.00-whatever amount. Do the research

It's easy to figure out..

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

As a matter of fact when they changed it they said it was an extra 300.00 dollars of which I am still trying to figure that out.
- Because the ticket you bought was a discounted "restricted fare" ticket that does not allow cancellations.  It also has a "change" fee that depends on the fare you bought(the cheaper the fare the higher this fee usually is).  Then if you do need to change your flight, you also must pay the fare difference between the flights.  Since you are trying to book a flight for two of the busiest travel days of the year, and you are booking it close to that date this new fare can be quite costly.   The closer to the date you get the higher this fare is going to go.

Had you wanted a ticket without restrictions you could have paid for a "full fare" ticket that is fully refundable and changeable, but that $636 round trip ticket would have cost you about $1500-$1800.

I actually took a look for you to see what flights are out there on a couple of other sites.  They range anywhere from about $450 to $1,500.  So if you have an open schedule and don't mind leaving evening on the 21st and coming back early AM on the 25th you can get some fares in the $450-$500 range.  But if you want to leave early to mid-afternoon on the 21st and not come back until the evening of the 25th you are going to be lucky to get a fare for under $800 round trip.  Those fares are of course without the Change Fee you are most likely being charged.
