This online school has serious Unethical Business Practices—motivated by financial gains without regard for students’ rights. Below are actual email exchanges between a student and the school’s financial aid representative.
Notice that the initial email from the financial aid representative implies that the student enrolled in a class and the email is simply a confirmation of that transaction, but that is actually not the case at all (TAKE A CLOSER LOOK).

Dear OH,
This is to confirm your registration for the following course(s):
- Session Name: Fall 2014
- Course Number: DEL602
- Course Name: Leadership and Leader Roles in Education
- Units: 4- Tuition Fee: $3,600.00- Session Start/End Dates: October 13, 2014 / January 4, 2015
Student reply:
Roxanne,
My next course starts 1/7/2015; so I am not aware of what you're referring to. My next financial aid disbursement is also scheduled for 1/7/2015.
I can only complete 2 courses per year for the next four years. If this schedule will not work for the university than please notify me immediately so that I can withdraw.
Best regards,
OH

Dear Roxanne Diaz,
As a follow-up from a previous reply, I am shock! That TUI staff is allowed to make personal financial decisions for students without their consent. My course schedule combined with the financial aid award (disbursement schedule) clearly indicates summer 2014 and winter 2015 sessions.
How is it then that you, without my consent, can change my schedule? Not to mention the fact that you are not aware of my family and/or work schedules, or my academic objectives. I have dropped the course you personally selected for fall. In addition, I will seek counsel from federal and state agencies regarding this matter.
Respectfully,
OH
Summary:
This school raised online fees and sent this email within the same week. $3600.00 is what they wanted even if it meant changing a student's schedule without consent or student knowledge.

#1 UPDATE Employee
No wrongdoing by university
AUTHOR: University Representative - ()
SUBMITTED: Monday, August 11, 2014
The student issuing the complaint graduated from our Master of Arts in Education program in early 2013 and entered the PhD in Educational Leadership program in July 2014. As relayed to her, we take complaints such as these very seriously and do our best to address their validity and to obtain a resolution. Once we received her complaint, we immediately investigated her claims in order to resolve the issue and ensure that her experience at Trident remains positive. We attempted to discuss the matter with her over the phone but our request/invitation was not accepted. The main complaint, that she was enrolled in a course without her consent, is untrue. Following our published policies and procedures, on April 13, 2014 she was informed of her course registrations for the summer and fall sessions. In response, she emailed, “I approve. Thanks.” Trident has published policies and procedures for resolution of complaints and grievances; however, this student did not contact the university or seek resolution before posting her complaint. Beyond that, these serious allegations have implicated a staff member who engaged in no wrongdoing and was merely following university policies and procedures. Since we engage students on all matters, we would have gladly provided her with further explanations and any desired supporting documentation. Rather than taking this route, she complained without attempting to resolve the situation and in spite of our detailed response to her claims clearly showing that her consent had been received for enrollment, the student opted to withdraw from the university.
