I know for a fact that they rip people off. The do a bait and switch on the blinded customers. A customer orders a TRX software developed by redgear, And they get TRX Alliances software called tax exact. That software WAS NOT ready to be used by the public. The STATES were not even available. Oh and another thing, Those who have renewed for the 2012 tax season WILL NOT get the redgear product that they had for the past couple of years. They will get the taxexact. Also, People that order their premium package that is able to E-file the Corporate returns, Well Guess what, You won't be able to E-File the 1041, 1065, 990, 5500,.. Whats the point in buying their Premium package if you aren't able to get the entire package?.

First off, TRX from what I see is that they like to keep peoples money. They charge and outrageous shipping fee of $39.95 to ship a little CD in an envelope that shouldn't cost more then $5.00 to ship. And I know from this past tax season, A lot of customers paid to have the software shipped but never got that software, they had to DOWNLOAD it for free off their website.

They have a return police, But if you buy their software throughout the year, You won't get that software until December. if you are lucky. And if you don't like the software, You have three days to get a refund, well, You bough the software in March or whatever, and get the software in December, You are way past their 3 day policy. So therefor You won't get a refund. They are greedy people. I do know that they hire people during tax season from a temp employment agency. They pay like 10$ an hour for those temps. They get in over 30 temps or so during tax season. Most of the temps are not computer savvy. So the customers that call in asking for help won't get they help they need. Not all the temps are not bad. Some temps are good and knew what they were talking about when it comes to computers and the software. Oh on another note, They DO NOT train the temps well on how to fix the software problems.

I know also that TRX has send thousands of $$$ the past three months of the 2012 year over to Doug@trxalliance.com email address.  Screenshots have been posted to show how much they have sent from one account to another.. They have the money to send to those that they have stiffed.

TRX S/W Huge disappointment

I have used TRX s/w for a few years now and this year is absolutely the worst tax season in my 30 years of preparing tax returns because of this s/w and their so called customer support. This s/w cannot calculate correctly, the worksheets do not flow to the correct forms or not at all. If you need to calculate vehicle expenses or office in the home you will find out that those forms will not flow. Nothing works! The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. There is no support! The people who answer the phones do not know anything about tax forms or computers. I also have been on hold for over 30 minutes and have been disconnected, several times in one day. I cannot believe that they would put out this s/w. The tax preparers are being used to fix their s/w. I am looking for another tax software company. There are so many problems I cannot mention them all.

You have NO IDEA how bad this S/W is

#1 This S/W is still making correction on its S/W, as they put it as 'up-date'

#2 The IL state form was not ready for use till mid of Feb. 2013

#3 The state is not ready for e-File as of 03/05/2013 for IL, which is where I am at.

#4 The estimated time for state e-file, two weeks from today(03/05/2013), which means late March. 

#5 Few number does automatic carry to the correct form or just complete missing.

Now, how many of tax preparer are able to funtion with all of the problems with this software?  I know I have lost at least 15 new clients becuase I can't do state and state e-file. That is $150~$250*15!!!!  So, you must be either a share holder of the company or employee of the company to even remotely like this s/w, because this software is so bad, I can go buy turbo tax from a store and perform better than this bad S/W.  RUN FROM THIS COMPANY AND IT SOFTWARE!

I agree that this software is a ripoff. Federal forms and schedules not working, states not able to e-file, hours and hours on hold with tech support that can't help when you do get through.

I'm a tax Preparer, have been using the TRX software for the past 3-4 years and I got used to their software, I have to admit that comparing to others they were in low price range, however my problem started with the 2012 software , last year I insisted to get the 2011 TRX not Tax Exact , but this year the provided by default their own software not Red Gear one , that's when all problems started , the software is incomplete till now 02/05/2013 and there are still lots of area needs improvement if it works at all like the invoicing ( Called Price List now) the Discount menu, the Custom Letters and so on , these area are critical to Tax Preparers as we don't have time to spend hours on the phone to find out from the customer service representative that they still working on it and there is no definite release date to the fix , for God Sake we are in the middle of the tax season and we couldn't try the software before as it was never been completed to test it.

This is a rip of and I wish if we can get our money back, but I honestly want the software to work , I called them over and over and it seems nobody listens to the customer complaints , I also faced the same issue of waiting hours on the phone to get disconnected , I truly believe this is the worst company I ever dealt with and I hope that The IRS fine these kind of companies who are in the market just to collect money from customers . no more pay in advance to any tax software company and most of all no more dealing with TRX

I'm giving up on this company and I regret to deal with them and consider what I paid for the 2012 software is a wasted money

TRX SOFTWARE IS THE WORST EVER IN EVERY WAY

I HAVE USED VARIOUS SOFTWARE PACKAGES OVER THE PAST 20 YEARS AND TRX IS THE WORST EVER.  IT IS LIKE USING DOS IN THE AGE OF WINDOWS.  THE SOFTWARE IS NOT READY AND IT IS JANUARY 31.  MOST OTHER TAX PREP COMPANIES HAVE THIRS UP AND RUNNING AND ,,,,TRX,,,, IS STILL WORKING ON IT.  THE WORST IS THAT THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT IS ADVERTISED.  THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE TELEPHONE, I HAVE BEEN HOLDING FOR 6 HOURS PER DAY FOR THE PAST 4 DAYS.  THE ONLY TIME THAT THE CALL IS ANSWERED IS FOR AN IMMEDIATE DISCONNECT.  THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE EMAIL.  THEY HAVE NO ONLINE CHAT.  WE ARE IN THE DARK.  WE DO NOT KNOW IF OR WHEN THEY WILL REPAIR THEIR RUSTY DUSTY OLD SOFTWARE.  OTHER COMPANIES ARE EFILING WHILE TRX CUSTOMER ARE JUST WONDERING WHEN CAN WE FILE?

TRX Alliance and Doug Hughes steal

The complaints about TRX Alliance and Doug Hughes are not "unfounded."
I cannot speak to the TRX Premium as I have never used it. However, I can say that Doug Hughes and TRX Alliance kept tens of thousands of dollars of service bureau fees that users of their tax software were supposed to be paid. Many tax business owners including myself did not receive payment for over two years and only did once this ripoff report was started. And they did not pay interest after having kept the money for two years. Don't believe the marketing rebuttal from someone in their office that was just posted saying this complaint is unfounded. Any tax business owner that doesn't want to be ripped off should avoid TRX Alliance and use any one of the many honest tax software companies that don't have countless complaints on BBB or Ripoff report.

TRX COMPLAINT IS UN FOUNDED

I am a customer (tax preparer) who used the premium edition and it is the best tax program on the market. The complaint that some forms cannot be e filed is erroneous. In fact I filed a form 990 last night. You should not allow compaints without veification of the facts. TRX premium version allows e filing of every Federal and state tax form accepted by the Government.

As far as support goes; it is highly recommended. Even during tax season help is available with in minutes and the personal are very competent. The software for the next tax year will ship Nov - Dec as does every tax program on the market. Paying early in the year only gives a tax break. The software cn be ordered anytime

The information you provided about Doug Hughes and TRX Alliance has really helped with my case.  Can you please post any other documents that you might have as well or any other information about how Doug Hughes and TRX has used all of the money they owe to the tax business owners that have used their tax software.   He also goes by Terrell Hughes and Terrell D Hughes JR and TRX Software Developement LLC
