I was cold-called by TS Luxury Group, and upon the clerk's verifying that I might be interested in selling a timeshare, was turned over to John Conway.  He claimed that he had a $5000 deposit from an individual who's been a perennial renter at my timeshare, and was now interested in buying one for $26,500.  All I had to do was to provide a credit card number, which would then be charged either $1727 or $1728 (his figure changed during the course of our conversation), but that amount would be refunded if the sale did not close in 60 days, and was also fully refundable upon consummation of the sale.  He also assured me that I was protected, because if the promised contract (not the sales contract, but the contract between us) was not received in the next few days, I could dispute the charge.  Of course, the contract would be expected, but somehow, I would also expect the sale to fall through, and by the expiration of the 60-day 'escrow', my money would be long gone.  He never clearly stated why he needed the $1727/1728, other than to claim it was for researching and guaranteeing our possession of a clear deed.  Somehow, if the fee is fully refundable, it doesn't sound necessary to charge such a high figure for a routine data search!

Beware of this outfit; I challenged him to provide me with a few references so I could do more research, and from that moment on, he's been unavailable, and has not returned phone messages.  Don't let them scam you!  If it sounds too good to be true, you're going to get burned.
