Always go with a (good) tax preparer

Going to a crapola place like H&R block is not too much better; they just hire data entry people to basically use the same type of program. Spend a few hundred bucks and get a REAL tax guy to do your returns each year. Most of the good ones have their own business (sole proprietorship), or may have one other guy working for them. They will ask you the right questions, and crap like this will not come up (plus, you can ask them questions BACK).
I know the cost of a real guy may seem like a lot, but it is only a little bit each month spread out over the year, and it is a much better way to go.
Are you saying that you entered in the information correctly and TurboTax calculated your taxes wrong? Because if that is the case they have a 100% guarantee that they will pay any penalties and interest. It won't get you out of owing the additional tax, but then again neither would any other software.
Are you saying that they somehow should have known what you were entering in was wrong.
Or are you saying that you didn't enter in certain information and somehow TurboTax should have known this.

If YOU made errors or intentionally entered wrong information and you don't really owe this amount, you should see a tax preparer to check for errors and file an amended return if needed.
Don't delay doing this. Be sure the tax preparer gets ALL your information and ONLY your correct information.
I have been using Turbo Tax for many years on fairly complicated returns and am very happy with it.
I do NOT work for Quicken or any of its companies.
My estimation is, this is YOUR failure to use the software properly.
A good test for you is to compare this return with the previous year if your financial situation was similar. Good luck to you.
