I purchased this sealed Tyson whole chicken fryer at Walmart. It contained nearly 1 1/4 cups of brine. That much brine adds a lot of unnecessary weight to the package. It seems to be an excessive amount of liquid for a 5.86 pound chicken. Do they need this much brine or are they ripping me off by making me pay for all of this brine? Walmart used to sell (((REDACTED))) chickens which have no brine, or excess liquid, and taste a whole lot better, in my opinion. I won't be buying any more of these Tyson chickens from Walmart!

#2 Consumer Comment

the label on the package does say...

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

"Contains up to 12% natural chicken broth"  Does the weight of your broth exceed 12%?

I don't know if that's just to increase the weight or not, but it DOES state this prominently on the package.

#3 General Comment

brine

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

A switch to brine was made because the consumer wanted fresh product WITHOUT preservatives. Well with preservatives it only takes a little, but when you use brine, it takes more. Not a ripoff when you consider what that bird would taste like with no preservative at all.
