I used Ubox from Uhaul to ship my mothers belonging from NC to NY. I used them because, online, it was cheaper than any other moving service. The price quoted to me was $671. They don't tell you all of the fee's involved until after you waste a ton of time putting in your information. They don't tell you in the beginning that there is also a mandatory storage fee ($92 for me) for up to 30 days of storage. They need to include that in the initial price since it is mandatory.

They offer to drop off/pick up to your house, but it quoted me an extra $300ish for each location. I was more than willing to pick it up, but they charged a fee for that too! I think it was $16 and change. Then when I get to uhaul, they charge me $16.95 to tow it with my truck! So, they charged me about $33 just to pick up a box.

They ship the box to NY, they were 3 days late. I was quoted 9, it took 12. That I can understand because weather conditions at the time were undesirable. The box was picked up by my mother, she went inside and told them she was taking all of the contents out of the ubox. My card was charged another $16 and change just for her to pick it up. My mom rented a uhaul truck and transfered her items from the box to the truck and took her items home.

Over 2 weeks later, I get a charge on my card for $92 from the NY location. I call them up. I'm told that it's for another 30 days of storage. I told the woman that it was emptied over 2 weeks ago, and asked why I was getting charged. She blamed me, saying that I set up the account to have automatic withdrawals. I told her that I did no such thing because I didn't need storage, I just used the ubox to move my mothers stuff from NC to NY. She then told me that it automatically sets it to automatic withdrawls. This part is where I got upset on the phone because she first tried to blame me, saying I chose to have it automatically withdrawled.

There is nothing that states they set up for automatic withdrawls before you reserve/pay for it. I lost my paperwork, so I can't say for sure if it's anywhere in the fine print. But if it is, then they don't tell you about it until after you have put in your credit card numbers.

I told her the account was closed when my mom picked up her things, it should not have been charged in the first place and people don't just have tons of money sitting in an account for a mistake like this. She said it will takes 3-5 business days to refund. If a customer owes a company money, we get charged insane fee's, some times a fee for every day it isn't paid. If a company owes a customer money, we have to wait a week and aren't allowed to charge fee's. There needs to be a law passed that companies owe people fee's for taking money from account that they have no business taking money out from. Companies would be making a lot less mistakes, that's for sure.

All in all, I paid $813 for a service I was quoted $671 for, and they took $92 from my account and have to wait a week to see my money again.
