Order placed with Amazon 12-11-2013 for 3 Christmas gifts. Standard shipping selected as delivery was stated to be 12-16 (consistent with 3 - 5 Business Days).
Amazon shipped UPS-SurePost. Package tracked and delivered to my local USPS office at 10:15 a.m. 12-16. It is now 12-20 and USPS has not delivered the package.
I paid for Standard Shipping and received SUBstanard shipping. Amazon does not offer informaton about SurePost, nor is there a way to opt out of their choice of shipping. In addition, once the package is transferred to the USPS, the ability to track the package is lost, as USPS does not assign a new number or use UPS' number.
This is a bad choice by Amazon and UPS - two good companies that have made a deal with the USPS that is obviously incapable of performing.
Amazon and UPS should STOP using SurePost (quickly becoming an oxymoron) and resume reliable, predictable, trackable shipping methods, even it it costs more.
