I have been a loyal customer of US Cellular for years. When I started service I was told I would have coverage where I lived. This was not so. So after contacting US Cellular they said they would cut my contract down to only one year. I stuck with them feel satisfied.
About two years latter, I decide to start a family plan with US Cellular. I bought my wife a razor phone and we signed up. Immediately we knew we had a problem. Her cell phone go at most one bar. After talking to a US Cellular rep we figured it had a faulty antenna and had to be sent in. However we received a bill before we sent it off. This Bill was for my old plan, and the new one. The bill was over 120.00! The plan we upgraded to was only 89.99.
After talking to US Cellular we decided to cancel and return the phone. However the store that we bought it from said they would not take it back because it wasn't in perfect condition. (however it wasn't perfect when we bought it!!)
Trying to work this out, I called US Cellular and fought for about a day trying to explain my frustration. I was told my old plan was being upgraded so we wouldn't have to worry about paying the old bill. Then after being frustrated I told them to cancell all of my accounts and I will send them both phones and be done with them. However that wasn't good enough. I would not only have to pay 150.00 for her new phone, but 150 for my old phone! I told the man that I would pay whats right or nothing at all. I told him that I would be willing to pay the 5 months I had left on my old phone despite the lies they told me.
So what I found acceptable was this.
6.25 x 5 (remaining months) = 31.25
122.00 phone bill for family plan, and the one I cancelled. I would send them the not working razor and I would never do buisness with them again.
That was not good enough. They want Me stuck in a contract with both plans keeping me with only one working phone. Or for me to pay 422.00 plus the cost of the phone. I find this unacceptable.
US Cellular is a HUGE rip off. Test them if you don't believe me. Now I realize they will try and use the same tactics as always here. So Test them. Call them up and pretend to have a plan with them. Fake a problem and see how they brush you off as trash. Try and be reasonable, polite and see how unprofessional they are! Once they have you, they won't let you go. The phones are garbage, and they know it, they would never want it back.
I was in my 30 day grace period and they still did not honor it. Now I am sure my credit will be hurt, but I accept that. I would rather scream on a soap box and tell you the truth even if it hurts me. However if the company will actually talk to me and we can work this out, I promise to be reasonable. The 30 day "trail" ran out yesterday, and I am sure that ship has sailed.
Couple of points that should warn you about a company. First, if the representative gives you there first or last name only. Second if they refuse to give you a case number or there company ID number. Thirdly if they hold all documentations, refuse to send you it, and especially if they have "coach meetings". Lastly, if a company refuses to talk to you if you inform them of you recording them in compliance to law.
All I want is to pay a reasonable fee for a service provided. US Cellular is very legal about how they destroy people. So please avoid them. I have never missed a payment with them, and that didn't matter. They don't want your phone, or money, they want your soul.
