Two years ago I received a phone call from a representative of Suez Energy. They said that they were hiring, offered a base salary, and are looking for individuals are interested in moving up in a company. Baffled, I asked them how they had my phone number and they informed me that they viewed my resume on careerbuilder.com. My conversation with this "representative" was interesting so I decided to go through with the interview. Once I was at the interview there were promises of base salaries, benefits, commission, etc. I was also informed that they weren't actually Suez but the only authorized company in the United States that was allowed to sell their products. They really knew how to sell themselves and make themselves seem like a legitimate business. Later on that day my "hiring manager" called me back and said that he fought for me and believes I would make a great employee. He congratulated me on recieving the position and told me to come into for an additional interview the following day with an area manager.
This manager was a class act. We sat down and he went off about his many accomplishments. He was bragging about his 250k a year salary, his house, his cars, and all the other fine things in his life. But while he was sitting their bragging about all the great things U.S. First Energy has brought to him, the only I could focus on was the fact that this man was wearing a old and dirty pair of sketchers. That was the first signal in my head that said that this guy was full of it. But being desperate I still agreed to take the position.
Their training started the following day to my interview and I must say it was the dullest thing I had to go through. I had to sit infront of a computer for 3 hours at a time while talking to them on the phone. They tried to grind this information into you about deregulation and how U.S. First Energy is here to save the consumer money. After the computer training I was asked to come in to train in their office. The only thing I can compare their training to would be a kindergarden class. They treated us like children. For two days we had to do roleplaying, listen to the same information over and over again, and then for about an hour a day they would brag about how much money they all have. Finally after the office training was over, we had to sign their paperwork for employment. Everybody who was there with me signed away with a smile on their face but I was hesitant to sign anything without reading it first. After reading the fine print you are actually signing a peice of paper that states that you are NOT an employee of the company. That you are simply an independent contractor highered by the company to generate leads/customers for them.
That's when I realized the company was a scam, that the people who I was "working" for were scammers, and that I didn't actually get hired for a real job. Then I read up on their exectutives as as Patrick Farah. The man was accused of running a pyramid scheme in Vegas yet he is running a lucrative energy company that is generating millions of dollars. This company also lies to the customers. There is a VERY big cancellation fee if you decide to cancel and 100% of the time your energy bill will be a lot higher than it was. So do not deal with U.S. First Energy, Texas First Energy, and any other energy company owned by Michael Jarmana and Patrick Farah. If they call you for a job then just laugh at them and hang up. Do not waste your time and money on these people because you will honestly see nothing from it.
