I am currently battling my own insurance company. Had a first great year with them and renewed my policy for a second year with a lower yearly premium.  Then I get into a parking lot fender bender and it is the first time I have to use my insurance, but the only reason I called to let them know was because I thought that was just the right thing to do because the person whose bumper I tapped have a little scratch that did probably have to be buffed out.  No, problem I called her insurance first because it was not my fault she was stopped illegally in a fire lane.  After calling her insurance I called mine, Standard Insurance, let them know what happened, they asked if I wanted to take my car to get it fixed.  Told them what happened, that I did not want to get my car fixed and that if her insurance is going to pay for my car then okay because it was not my fault, but there was not any damage, just a little scuff mark, I was going less then 10MPH pulling into my apartment parking lot and there she was parked in the fire lane by the dumpster.  So the insurance lady who is taking the statement and telling me what is going to happen as far as her being able to make a decision, is they would send someone out to look at my car and take pictures and after that she will look at the pictures, go over the statements and make a decision and get back with me.  Month goes by and I do not hear anything.  We come into the Month of April on the 14th I was hit by a lady making a right on red on a service road where the posted speed is 60mph and she turned all the way into the far third lane and hit me.  Now, currently I am still fighting this accident.

So my insurance asks if I want to get started on my car getting fixed while they are investigating and determining fault of this accident.  So, yes I do because I work two jobs and am at this time homeless and need my car.  So they send me an estimate based off an eyeball quote done in my apartment parking lot, with a business card left in my windshield and then about a week later I get a check and a copy of this online/eyeball estimate.  So after explaining my situation, my insurance lets me know my financial and life situation is not there problem and I need to take my car to a body shop.

So I give in and take my car to the body shop and in the meantime, I call to pay my insurance and I find out the one of the underwriters wants to talk to me, so I was thinking maybe he has some news for me.  No, underwriting proceeds to tell me that because of “this accident” , the one that is being investigated still has cause my policy to go up from $1200 a year to $6000 a year and with an immediate deposit of $800 and $400 something a month.  No notice, no letter, no copy of quotes, they did not even wait for the accident to be fully investigated and that was the determination for my rates going up.

Okay, I have to get new insurance I cannot afford that, I am already paying for my car and am homeless.  I finally go to pick up my car at the end of June, this month and find out my insurance wants me to pay a little over $1000 dollars.  They said that I have two deductible because it is one deductible per occerance, but I didn’t want my car fixed from the other accident, but okay two deductibles rules are rules.  I need my car/house back, then my repair shop proceeds to tell me that on top of the two deductibles I will owe this ridiculous amount for the check they cut me for the first accident.  Um, no, I never got a check, cashed a check or even received an estimate for the accident.  I did not even get a result of the accident.  The repair shop says well I have to pay over a thousand because my insurance is telling them that I owe for two checks that I never cashed and two deductibles that I never agreed or said I would pay.  I did not even want my car fixed from the first one, there was nothing to fix, I did not even get an estimate.  All the information I got was from the body repair place.

Standard insurance/US Lloyds-never sent me a letter of rate increases, not an email, not a letter not even a phone call.  I call to pay my bill and a rude gentleman lets me know of my crazy premium increase and that’s it.  I hear nothing else.  I get no follow up call about the initial parking lot accident, but I cashed a check, no I did not, that never happened, never got an estimate and I can prove everything.  I have pictures from accidents, all emails, receipts, documentation; phone logs anything and everything that I can do to prove that all this is wrong.  Nobody told me anything, but the repair shop that I tried to pick my car up from and all the documentation I have says none of this, about extra deductibles, different claims, I have no letters, no calls nothing.  They have left me out to dry and will do nothing to make any of this right or make the effort to fix the situation.  If you plan on never getting in an accident, or if you have money to throw a way this is the insurance you should use.  There customer service sucks, they talk very rude to people and hang up on people. They should be sued for false advertising.  I work in the medical field, I am a nurse, but I also assist our doctors with insurance and I really hope that the love and care that these people have given get a taste of there own medicine when they need medical care and there insurance is not working like it suppose too or that they get as much of the same treatment as they give out.  Horrible just horrible, Standard Insurance/US Lloyd is not a company you want to use!
