I have dealt with Adam at Used Photo Labs a few times but the last two times have caused me to stop doing business with him and to file this report so that others may be aware of his practices.  There was a person whom I knew that wanted to sell his machine to Adam so he could re-sell it.  During the process he had asked me if I would erase the Memory of the Laser Unit and replace the Print Counter on the machine to make it more attractive.  He did change his mind and decided not to do it because he was planning to sell the machine to a repeat customer and didn't want to possibly foul up possible return business, but his intent and willingness to cheat was there and who knows if he isn't practicing this now I do not.  It is kind of like rolling back the Odometer on a used car.

The last transaction I had with him was to install a used machine in "Very Nice Condition"  for this he paid me $1,000 and it should have been at most a three day deal including customer training.  Adam had not prepped the customer at all and if it weren't for me asking if the customer had paper and chemistry that would have not been there.  He did not let the customer know the specific power requirements needed to be avaliable.  If the machine would have been in "Very Nice Condition" and power was installed I could have had the machine up and running the first day easily.  As it turned out this machine was a beat up peice of CRAP!

The movers that were contracted were very rough on it and the machine was so Filthy Dirty it was almost a crime.  The chemical overflow system had been re-configured by the previous owner and was not compatable with any silver recovery systems and also with the EPA.  I found the motherboard had heat a heatsind missing from a CPU Chip and the mounts were broken off the motherboard.  Adam did reluctantly send a new motherboard.  The leveling legs on this machine had three out of four of the main legs missing the feet and peices of steel were purchased so the studs of the legs would not punch holes in the tile and wood floors.  The smaller legs on the extra paper magazine and one other for support were also bent almost on 90 degree angles from being smashed during the move by not being raised up for shipping.  This made them unusable.  After cleaning up the machine and removing a few pounds of dirt and replacing the motherboard it still was not working.  Adam then told the customer that it was not his problem anymore and did not want to send a motherboard again.  He also then told the customer that he needed to send in a Technician that "Knew what he was doing."  My email to him informing him of the parts that I had found missing or in need of replacement was kicked back to me and the lab owner had to forward it to him.  Adam never spoke to me again but would have the end user who purchased relay his messages to me.  I left Adam voice mail messages to me and he refused to call me back.

The lab owner then told Used Photo Lab or Adam that he was going to sue him and Adam did not care at all and said "Go Ahead"  I then received voice mails and text messages to that effect.  Then a change of heart and I got a call to come back not by Adam but by the customer on his behalf.  I spent four days for 3-4 hours in there with over an hour travel on two weekends which is more time than I had planned when I quoted the job.  Used Photo lab had not even sent all the parts I mentioned that were needed or missing in his original shipment.  He had not even sent in a new consumer terminal and two paper magazines that the buyer had paid for yet and it had been over a month.

I was then requested to return and it was to continue working for Adam and I let him know that further payment would be required if he wanted more service.  I then received some very nasty text messages that cannot be quoted in this forum and he filed a claim for the money he paid me via Pay Pal.

This man is selling machine's he got for dimes on the dollars from Safeway's or some chain that stopped doing one hour photo and is selling them without any refurburshing at all that I can see.  The computers in these machines are 10 years old and some of the DLS Systems use SCSI Hard Drives and I do not think are very easy to find a replacement.  I would not trust this man or company at all.

As the old saying goes.."Let the Buyer Beware!"
