Verizon Wireless Jetpack blocks other Wireless Connections, even when the Jetpack is disconnected. It seems that Verizon is trying to control the internet. The best thing to do is not to use the Jetpack, if I do not wish to see the page that says "Verizon has blocked your connection to Google or wherever you are searching. A pitiful waste of $50 per month. I have no phone, and I have to use a soon to be outmoded payphone to communicate with them. They tell me to fiddle around with the back of the Jetpack with a paper clip. The "Verizon " page that does the blocking has a scary look to it. They have me tied up with this thing until January, 2015. Does anyone know how to get out of paying their ridiculous $175 termination fee??? It sounds like Verizon wants to control the internet AND take your money.

I am sorry to read about your issues with Verizon. I had one of their jetpacks and I have a past due balance that I was paying off. Without going into detail, my payments were not satisfactory for Verizon. I literally got sick of dealing with these people. Their customer service people were threatening to send my account to collections if I did not meet "their" payment specifications. It sounds like Verizon was fooling around with your data increments in a scheme to collect more money from you
I am cancelling my contract with these people . First they, engage in the gatecrashing of my computer by displaying the "Verizon" page so I cannot access the internet otherwise . Then Their are issues with billing and the threats to send accounts to collections. The fact is even if you send these people $5 a month shows due effort on the part of the consumer to pay off old debt, in the case of a cancelled contract

I simply got sick of dealing with the people at Verizon and cancelled my contract. I had been paying on my past due balance, but it was not good enough for them They say they will send me a bill for $145 . I asked them if I could pay this off in installments . They say No. It may end up in collections if the $145 is not received by a certain date. This is one stinky way of doing business . First they engage in gatecrashing my computer and generally trying to generate all internet traffic in their direction. Verizon accomplished this by showing a creepy administration page that blocked all other internet connections I had. Then they threaten to disconnect and charge a re-connection fee even if due effort was being made to pay off any past due balance. Then with cancellation, they charge a fee, and threaten to send to collections if the fee is not paid in full. Verizon Wireless' contracts and fee and business practices end up causing some real problems for consumers. Most companies would allow the consumer to pay off past due balances and fees in installments, and not threaten the consumer with sending the unpaid portion to collections. I could see them using the collections route if due effort was not being made to pay off the balance. In this case due effort was being made to pay off the balance. I was still threatened with collections, even though I tried to calmly negotiate with them. As I read some of the other reports here , others have had issues of one type or another with this company.
