It seems Verizon Wireless has become a partner in crime with CitiBank n.a. with regard to offering rebates.
Instead of getting a rebate check, or a credit on your bill, you get a prepaid credit card. You then have to register the card at one place, then go to Verizon if you want to use it to pay your bill.
In my case the card could not be registered online, because the computer would not accept the security code on the back of the card. So I ended up having to call Citi...prepaid group. They told me everything was all set.
I again tried to use the card, and it was rejected when entering the security code.
I contacted Verizon Wireless to transfer the rebate to my account...the card was again rejected. There seemed no way for one company to change the system so the rebate can be used.
I've since contacted Verizon Wireless Investor relations telling them about the fraudulent card I was issued.
I've also since contacted my Chicago consumer affairs lawyer.
You would think there would be some heads rolling after all the flack about this program set up by Verizon Wireless, but I see by the responses that this scam has been going on for some time. SHAME ON VERIZON WIRELESS AND CITIBANK = VISA. I hope there becomes a class action lawsuit and a change in the consumer protection laws ; fat chance with the fat cats in office.
