In August 2006 a man came to my door wearing a Dish network shirt. He said he was signing people up for service. I said "no thanks, I dont want to get stuck in a contract". He tells me that if my credit score was good enough I could get a 3 month contract instead of the normal 24 month contract. I knew I had good credit so I figured I could try it out. I saw on the paper I signed it said "24 month" contract in the fine print. I asked him and he said not to worry, he had entered me in the system as a 3 month contract. Ok, fine. I believed him. Four months later I decided to cancel. I called Dish and they said that I did infact have a 24 month contract. I complained and they took off the contract. They told me not to worry there would be NO charges if I cancelled. So I cancelled. 2 weeks later I see a $240 charge on my credit card from someone called "Vision Satellite". I disputed it with my credit card.

I called and they said that I breached the Dish contract so I was fined. I explained that Dish took the contract off so too bad. I explained that the man who signed me up (who turned out to be a Vision employee) told me I had a 3 month and that dish had removed the contract. He said that the guy who signed me up was no longer employed there and that I was out of luck because the paperwork said 24 months. I asked if I could just sign back up with them and finsh out my contract. He said ok, he would try to get it reinstated. I didnt hear back so I thought they just dropped it. Now it has been 5 months and I get a letter from a collection agency for $100 more then the original fine. It was $240 now it is $340. There was never any billing or contact. I have not recieved anything to tell me there was still a charge or they still were trying to get the money from me. Nothing. Now I call the debt collector and he says they will put a mechanics lien on my home if I dont pay. WTF??? I was lied to by their company, then they jack up the fine by $100 and threaten a lein on my house????? Now I cannot get in contact with Vision Satellite, or Vision Marketing Group as my credit card has them listed.

When you sign up for Dish network sign up directly. NEVER sign up through an independant contracter cause they can screw you.
