If you are considering interviewing or taking a job with this company RUN!!. I have been there less than two months and have been lied to from the start. They require that for certain contracts you be prior law enforcement and they should know that the number one thing that cops hate is being lied to.
This office run by Bill Lindus hired numerous people under false pretense. They were told that they would be making 15.12 and hour for the Phillip Morris contract and not even a month later told that after January 1 2011 the pay is going to be 14.00 an hour. This office is still advertising the position at 15.12 an hour and hiring people under that rouse.
They way that they have been getting away with it is they hire you and make you go thru several weeks of mandatory training and only pay you minimum wage or nothing at all for firearms training which is a whole week. This isn't known by enyone untill it happens and the new hires have already left their old job, so they become stuck financially. They make you attend mandatory firearms training and pay you absolutely nothing for it. They can't make you attend training and tell you if you don't you will be fired and then not pay you for it. Now on to the way workers are treated. The workers at the Richmond office have horrible working conditions. They are limited to a 15 minute lunch break for an 8 hour shift and if they go to the restroom more than twice on a 8 hour shift they have to have a doctors note or they get written up. They receive no benifits such as paid sick time, earned leave, or paid military leave. The health insurance is so expensive that anyone that dosent have a second or third income can't afford it. The insurance is 740 dollars a MONTH!! for a family. That's one whole paycheck for this company.
In the last two months the Richmond office has forced several good people out of work on the Phillip morris contract by changing the job qualifications to a higher standards. This office no longer accepts Department of corrections as law enforcement experience thus over 60 people are loosing their jobs. They require you to be a prior police officer of career military or have a degree in criminal justice to be on the Phillip Morris Contract. After all that and hiring people under the rouse of making 15.12 an hour they cut the pay over a dollar an hour to 14.00 and cut your time for lunch breaks in half. Phillip Morris pays 42.00 an hour for each security officer on the contract and Bill Lindis can only manage to pay 14.00 an hour? I call for an investigation of where this money is going. Bill Lindus will not even buy paper towels for hos office, they have to bring them from home. They give AED training with an AED that dosent work because he is too cheap to buy batteries for it. This isnt the first time Wackenhut has been skimming wages for workers. If any attorneys read this I would be interested in filing suit against this office possible class action for unpaid wages and employment ptactices as would several hundred of the workers at the Richmond office.
