Employers are not required to respond to nor hire all job applicants

AUTHOR: Wilson - (U.S.A.)

I worked as a background investigator for four years verifying employment, education, and checking personal references for some of the largest employers in the United States. I can tell you I do not recall any employment applications which ask for the applicants race. Usually the race is requested on a separate sheet for statistical purposes for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Employers such as Walmart can have whatever rejection criteria they want such as unexplained employment gaps greater than six months, felonies found on criminal check, failed drug tests, or any false information supplied by the job applicant. I have verified applicants for employers who had requested checks on employment histories going back five years, seven years, ten years and even back twenty years.

I myself have applied for many jobs for which I thought I was qualified and I never received a response including TSA airport screener.

To the original poster of this complaint, get over it. There is no ripoff by Walmart. Apply for a job with another employer.

Maybe they checked your references!

AUTHOR: Jeremy - (U.S.A.)

This is my idea...maybe they checked your references and saw that you've had to many jobs before or maybe your attendance was poor! That is just my suggestion. I sure hope you have good luck finding a job in the future!

Shereese,I thought most Americans' know...

AUTHOR: Jodi - (U.S.A.)

I thought most Americans know that it is illegal to ask what 'race' a person is on a job application. I'm sure that's what Mike meant!

How Were You Able To Fill Out So Many Applications?

AUTHOR: Sherreese - (U.S.A.)

To answer someone elses question. I think they msy ask you your race when you are filling out the application.

My main question is, "How in the world were you able to fill out so many applications?" They only allow you to do one in a certain time period. The machine would not even allow you to feel out another application even if you filled out one online. How did you conclude it was because of race? Maybe you did not pass the test or something they have you to do. Maybe you did not apply to the position that was available. If you don't nobody will ever see your name. If you apply to a job after a job requisition is opened then nobody will see your name until another one is opened for a position you applied for. After that date you applied.

Online?

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

Just curious if you filed an application online how they knew what race you WERE.
