so i sent this letter below to my loss prevention manager and district manager complaining about treatment in my location , as i am an assistant manager at walgreens. i got trasferred immediately to another store and the perpetrators were never reprimanded nor any feedback given to me. i was injured in a motor vehicle accident on sep 29 and have not been able to report to work since then. now for 3 months i have unsuccessfully been trying to get a letter from walgreens to fill out my NYS MF6 form(wage verification ) so i can at least recieve a percent of my salary while at home as i havent been recieving any income since then, they never responded or forwarded the information to my insurance  company. i go online today to check on some information and my status says terminated..now how can i be terminated for no reason, no progressive discipline paperwork, and while i am still verifiably on disability with which i have submitted doctors disability notices concurrently to my job ? can i sue? i got a letter in the mail closing my profit sharing account and stating that my termination was since 10/08/2009, which as 10 days after my accident and while i was on leave of absence? they "backdated" my termination ...i was on leave of absence 2 weeks ago, today i was terminated sonce 10/08? i guess since i was applying for temporary wage while is due my under nys no fault law and paid by my insurance company they assumed i was trying to collect unemployment or workers comp which i wasnt and fired me, what can i do?

Subject: disturbing event since being at walgreens.

how are you sir, my name is asumoh e xxx and i work at walgreens and have been employed thankfully here since april. i am an assistant manager presently at store 10411 but i was recently transferred fom store 7627 and this is my concern.

i appreciate the honor to work with a manager like mr.mcilwraith as he is the epitemy of professionalism and i was glad to have that store as my port of entry per se into the company, when i went to store 7627 to work with ms.rodgriguez after a few weeks i started to see a lot of things wrong both morally and prfessionally and i though if i waited a bit i would see reason or it would fix itself. i have been subject to abuse and unfair treatment by my manager and mr vega for quite some time and moving me from my store without notice or even telling me until now i feel is the final lash that has broken my back.

i am almost done with my mba in mgmt and graduated summa c*m laude for my bachelors, i owned my own 7 eleven franchise before the economy went bust thus bringing me out into the market for work again.

i came to work about a few months ago and saw my name on the table in ms.rodriguez' writing and all it said was mr.e (the name i usually go by) as they have a problem pronouncing my name, and it said further "embezzled money from 7 eleven" now if i did such how come i was never charged with a company as big as 7 eleven? and why would a manager put a note in a main area where employees and managers alike have access to and leave it there? i have kept this paper should i need it in the future. i was never spoken to about it now i dont know what is going on in my supervisors head or her concieved notions about me or why she would even do that.

the next day i was written up bogusly because the floor wasnt faced even though there are numerous occasions where mr.vega closes and leaves the store a mess and Ms. pecilia (assistant manager) can vouch so it doesnt seem like a bitter spat or a "tit for tat'. i signed the acknowledgment of the write up wothout comment but now i am thinking i am being strategically forced out of a job i have pretty much being around all my life for no viable reason.

ms rodriguez doesnt even commend me or others for work cintrributing to sales and reducing incidents of loss as i was the one that told her to remove the pregnancy tests and other high theft items as i noticed the 1506's from those items were at least 5 pieces a day.

one on occasion during a saturdate event i told a beauty associate (stephanie) that i needed her assitance in making her aisle neat since she wasnt scheduled to leave until 6pm and it was only 5 and she was on the clock, she says and i quote "get the f*** out of here", mr.vega was standing right there, what did he do? pull her to the side and tell her not to do that again ( THAT WAS IT) for gross insubbordination she gets a side talk.

people have shown up late to open the store and she will call me and ask me to come in which i di as i live 2 blocks away, wthey show up and all she simply says to them is "what happened, you woke up late?: and it ends there..only for her to tell me to clock out and come back in later in the day for my scheduled shift and sorry for waking you up, this was on a truck day , i was called in at 7.05am, i was scheduled to come in at 5pm.

one another incident which is  more disturbing one of her "friends" as she has associates which never get reprimanded regardless of what they do, was working with me in the evening, (ana), she was alowed a 15 minute break and she took 35 minutes even though she has been given numerous verbal warning by me and other managers about the importance of her job, she shows up and i ask her why she came back so late and disturbing the break rotation of her fellow colleagues, she waves me off and says "mr.e dont worry about it, just change my clock time and put me in as if i just took a 30 minute break so i dont have to go on a 30 minute break anymore". i at this point she is telling a supervisor to violate a policy, i sent her home and informed ms.rodgriguez about it ,

but the same person (ana) has a final written for consistant cash shortages.

the end result? i was transferred the next day without my knowledge. she lied to me telling me that i was to assit mr.hasnat for 3 days in his store, when i was done as i have assisted many managers in other stores like jin when he opened 148th and 3rd ave in the bronx(he can speak on my character)even working 14 days straight when eastchester was set to debut working with mr.john) and helping in mr.q in manhattan during the reset for which we stayed late were thanked by mr.chavoya.

i came back to get my schedule only to be met by jeers from mr jet(7627) saying dont you know you were booted out the store, i go to the office, i notice ms.rodriguez has crossed my name out with a red pen and mr jet hoxha name scribbled over my name..what was my crime?

i understand there are two sides and i welcome your inquiry.i also have the note ms.rodriguez wrote should i need it civilly or legally in the future.

I am so sorry for you.  IF you were unfairly treated, terminated you feel unfairly, you do have rights.  Check into the EEOC, the website will show you guidelines.  If you feel that you were unfairly terminated, discrimated against, etc. they may be able to assist you.

Good Luck, I know just how MISERABLE of an organization Walgreens can be.  I hope the EEOC can help you.  It may take time, yet they investigate and Walgreens will have to explain themselves.

Need to know more...

I get the part of your email about your poor treatment, but what does that have to do with your leave of absence due to your injury? There's no mention of it anywhere. it makes me wonder if this is actually acurate and truthful. I worked in the Port Chester store when it opened (I actually helped set it up, Mr. Hasnat is a very nice guy). I was almost placed in the Boston Rd. store when I moved to the Bronx, but now I guess I'm glad I wasn't! It seems to me that as a manager, you could've been more assertive with the insubordinate employees. Lord knows I would've been! Another tidbit you may not have known is that when dealing with difficult employees or managers, you do have the right to go over their heads. That means you have the right to speak to your DM, Regional Manager, and even Human Resources. I was lucky enough to not have many serious issues with my coworkers or managers, but when I felt it was necessary, I did go over my managers heads a few times. And thankfully, the issues were satisfactorily resolved. I'm sorry you got treated so poorly, that's unacceptable. But in regards to the leave of absence and/or disability compensation, I'd need to know more before I can speak on it. Hope this was helpful!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Here is what you can do

Maybe it is time that we band together start telling our friends not to shop at Walgreens, start-writing letters to all of the companies that supply Walgreens with their stuff and tell them about the way Walgreens treat their employees and customers. Then start telling Congressman and Senators about this both at the state and federal levels Lets get the media involved and lets file complaints with the State AGs and Federal Trade Commission, the EEOC, start writing mass letters to the editor and publish them in the newspapers. Let us push the unions to try to unionize WALGREENS first because they need a union more than say like Wal-Mart or CVS or Meijer. Push any company we work for not to include Walgreens in their medical plan and also encourage companies to hire Walgreens Employees that are good (Hey, Walgreens is trying to steal employees from other companies)
