In March 2014  I contacted Walker English Bulldogs about purchasing a pup. I asked if their dogs were OFA tested (Genetic Testing) and Tracy Walker replied and told me that they weren't but that their dogs were heathy and that I could contact their vet to inquire about their health. I took her word for it and put down a $500.00 deposit down for a pup. Later on I paid the balance for a total of $2,350.

Their health gurantee states that their dogs are free of hereditary & congenital issues at time of sale (not true) And that Cherry Eye and Eyelid Surgery are excluded ( I later figured that this was odd I'm sure they have a known eye issue in their bloodlines possibly ectropian). When Tracy Walker flew the puppy to me April 22nd.  I noticed that the  lower eyelids were abnomally drooping. And the puppies nostrils were pinched almost closed. When I had my puppy examined she was diagnosed with "Stenotic Nares" this condition is hereditary and congenital, something the puppy is born with.

I informed Tracy of the diagnosis and she stated that she would not have sold me the puppy if she had known that it had hereditary defects. I informed her that I wanted a refund. She declined and only offerd me a puppy (Which they dont have and why would I want one when this is hereditary) or she would "assist in the cost of surgery" Both of which are unacceptable to me, especially because I wanted to have the option to breed the dog in a couple years. I cant do that responsibly when it has hereditary defects.

Clearly with Walker English Bulldogs this was a breach of contract by selling me a puppy with hereditary issues. They have ignored my last email. These are not reputable breeders I strongly urge others to go to a reputable breeder that does genetic testing.  They have scammed me out of $2,350 don't be their next victim!

1st off the intital response to the diagnosis was to "receive another puppy or assist in the cost of surgery" they even implied that I was trying to scam them for money. Instead of being professional about this and taking action they took to facebook after I posted a review of my experience with them on their page where my character was verbally attacked by strangers. It wasn't until I filed numerous complaints that they decided to pay for the surgery.

The dogs eyes ARE abnormally droopy, she will be seeing a specialist soon  It's something that I chose not to pursue at the time because I figured that her breathing was more important. I also wanted to wait and see if her eyelids would attach as she got older, this has still not happened one has gotten better though. I decided to keep her and will make sure that her medical needs are met even though this breeder feels as though they have no obligation to better the breed and deny that any of this is the case for whatever reason.

Walker English Bulldogs claim their dogs are healthy and pass vet exams and what not but obviously this is not the case. Stenotic Nares is hereditary. If you go to their website and click on their dog Magnus you can see that his nostrils are pinched shut. I don't know how I missed this. They can claim that their dogs dont have this but I know better.  My very first Bulldog passed vet exams with flying colors. It wasnt until I took her to a vet that specialized in the breed that she got diagnosed for Stenotic Nares.  I say this to say that just because their dog passed vet exams does not mean that they do not have this condition. You can look online to see what the nostrils should look like and compare it to Stenotic Nares or better yet compare it to their dog Magnus. This really is a shame and easy fix considering their female dog Dolly pedigree is pretty much excellent.

At this time I would not recomend anyone to purchase a puppy from this breeder. Not only because of the actual medical issues of my pup, but also because they are clearly in denial and refuse to be accountable.

Mr. Evans responded on 3/26/14 to an add I placed for my bulldog puppies. He asked if they were OFA certified and I answered that they weren't but that my adult dogs were very healthy. I also offered to put him in contact with my vet if he had specific questions. I also attached a copy of my standard health guarantee. He responded with questions about the cost of shipping her to LAX and when the full balance would be due. I then explained my purchasing and shipping procedure. He then asked what I would do if something happened to the puppy prior to shipping. I answered that if something happened to the puppy prior to shipping that I would refund his money. Mr. Evans placed his deposit the evening of 3/26/14. I scheduled the flights for myself and the puppy to LAX. I take my puppies as carry-on not in cargo. Mr. Evans paid the remainder of the balance on 4/3/14. During this time I sent him numerous updates with pictures. On 4/7/14, the puppy was taken to my vet for her 6 week examination. My vet administered the immunizations and found the puppy to be in good health.

On 4/22/14, I delivered the puppy to him at LAX. I gave Mr. Evans her puppy package which included her AKC papers and health/vet records. We both signed the health guarantee and we each kept a copy. He then contacted me on 4/25/14 saying that the puppy had stenotic nares. I put in a call to my vet for more information about the condition because I had no prior experience with it. I did not hear back from my vet until 4/26/14. My vet explained that it is a common condition in brachycephalic dogs and that it can be resolved with a minor surgery to widen the nostrils. I sent him an email detaling what my vet had said. He responded by asking me how I was going to rectify the situation. I responded that he could return the puppy and receive another puppy form a future litter as per the health guanantee or that I would assist with the cost of the surgery. My health guarantee states that I will not pay vet expenses of the buyer but I offered due to the logistics between us. I also said that I would need some documentation from his vet with the diagnosis and the cost of the procedure.

On 4/27/14, he sent me an email asking if a refund was an option. I responded that it wasn't and restated that I would exchange the puppy as per our agreement or pay for surgery. He reponded that those options weren't feasible. I did not hear from Mr. Evans again until 5/1/14. On 5/1/14, I received an email from him with an attachment from his vet. The attachment was a copy of the puppy's health check and the vet said she had stenotic nares. On 5/2/14 he sent an email asking if I had received the diagnosis. I answered that I had but that I needed something with the cost of surgery. Later on 5/2/14, I received the estmate from his vet of $558.40 for the surgery. I sent Mr. Evans an email on 5/2/14 saying that I would contact his vet on Monday, 5/5/14 and arrange payment. I called his vet in the morning on 5/5/14 to make the surgery payment. The vet office couldn't take my payment as the only authorized person wasn't there. They took my contact info and said they would call me back. I didn't receive a call back from them so I called twice on 5/6/14 the the second time the correct person was there to take my payment for the procedure.

Mr. Evans filed this complaint and others prior to our resolution. I emailed Mr. Evans on 5/5/14 about a complaint he filed elsewhere and he responded that "Once the issue is resolved I will gladly remove it". I emailed him on 5/8/14 to ask if he had a further issue with our resolution. He answered that "we are all good". I emailed him on 6/2/14 after finding this complaint and again asked if he had further issues. I haven't heard back from him.

I take seriously the breeding of healthy bulldogs and I am sorry that this puppy has an issue. My adult dogs are solidly healthy and receive regular veterinary care. My puppies receive 24 hour care from birth and thorough veterinary exams. Although I have never had a puppy with this issue unfortunately this puppy developed stenotic nares after being seen by the vet. The puppy did not have "abnormally drooping" eyelids and there is nothing to denote that in his vets examination of the puppy. Mr Evans stated that he found it odd that I do not include eye surgery or Cherry Eye in my health guarantee. He went further to add "I'm sure they have a known eye issue in their bloodlines possibly ectropian". My health guarantee is standard and matches up with other reputable breeders. My adult dogs do not have eye issues and I'm not sure how he can make that determination from across the country. In the beginning of our interaction, I offered to put him in contact with my vet. He did not contact them then or since although he has their information. I did not scam him out of $2350. He picked out a puppy to purchase and received a puppy that had passed all veterinary health checks. The puppy developed an issue after the 6 week check which was caught by his vet at 8+ weeks. I then tried to rectify the unfortunate situation. Mr. Evans filed this complaint accusing me of "scamming"  him. A few days after he filed this complaint he emailed me the information I needed to pay for the surgery to resolve our issue.
