walmart is a rip off for all employees because they offer nothing. they make promises to prospective employees, upon the hiring process, and do not carry through with the promises.

for example - employees are promised 1 weekend off a month. That does not ever happen. Be assured of that. In addition, the longer an employee stays with walmart, the worse they are treated. Seniority means nothing. Sam Walton would be disgusted if he only know how twisted his ideas have become. He started the company with the best interest in mind for both the employee, and the customer.

needless to say, all of what he stood for, and started with the company has been destroyed completely.

I could go on and on about the many issues, but I'm sure there's not enough room for all I have to say.

not every company is a good fit

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 03, 2008

Not every company is a good fit for a person. If you do not like it, move on. My husband has a business degreee and had been in retail for years. He applied at Walmart and they offered $12k for a manager position. Did he whine? No, he kept on his quest for a excellent position at other companys. He found one at Home Depot, and has been there for over 22 yrs. So instead of whinning about what they do not do for you, spiff up your resume and get out on the job hunt for the "right position" for you! What you do, where you work for is all up to you! You have the power to change your life!

Good luck!

I Don't Feel Ripped Off

AUTHOR: Sdw - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 02, 2008

I'd like to know which promises were made and not kept. I've been with the company 9 months now and all the promises made to me, upon hire, have been kept.

We all list our availability when we apply. If you didn't want to work weekends, you should have listed yourself unavailable.

Strange you feel they offer nothing. I recieved a good raise after 90 days, insurance benefits, sick time, vacation time, and I'm excited about being eligible to recieve our next quarterly bonus.

Sorry, it just sounds like sour grapes to me.
