I am writing this letter out of concern and disappointment fregarding an incident that occurred at Walmart Location #1263 on Friday, July 13th, 2012. I am a professional single working mom who has had 3 surgeries with ankle transplant on my left foot, and recently diagnosed with a cyst on my right ankle.  I am currently on crutches and was parked up front in a designated handicapped spot for which I have a placard for.  I arrived at the store on the fore-mentioned date at 6pm, and shopped till around 9pm with my 10 year old daughter along.  I purchased over $200 worth of weekly groceries and frozen foods, which included many perishables, and headed out to my vehicle parked in row 7.

Upon getting to my vehicle, I discovered my left front bumper was smashed in and no insurance information or contact name was left.  I immediately went inside to report it and asked to speak with a manager. [continued below]....
.....  A long red-haired manager by the name of Jamie was sent out to talk to me at the customer service desk.  She was very rude and unprofessional and abruptly told me to go call the police.  My daughter and I were not offered to come inside the store at night, or to sit down to get off my crutches while I waited, and when I expressed concern over my perishable items, Jamie rudely asked me what I expected her to do about it.  What I expected was routine customer courtesy and for my purchase to be kept cool after spending 3 hours gathering all the items.  At first Jamie was not going to allow me to store my frozen items and perishables in the freezer, but finally agreed after wed already been waiting nearly 20 mins.  However, when we got the items back later, they were warm as if they had not been in the cooler.  The ice cream was soupy and there were many other items that were ruined as well.

On top of the horrible experience with management, I was told by Evansville Police detectives (case 12-15185) that they were unable to find any suspect vehicle info on Walmart's survei#llance tapes for the hit and run because the video was too grainy and low quality to pull a vehicle plate.  My deductible is $500 and the city detectives said they could not prosecute even if they wanted to.

What if this person was stalking me and my daughter and we had been hurt in your lot while waiting for the police to arrive?  My 10 year old and I waited outside at night for an hour in the parking lot for the police to arrive and make a report.   I am a loyal Walmart shopper and spend thousands of dollars in Walmart store each year.  I know I did not deserve this treatment.  After writing a complaint letter and sending it certified mail (USPS #7012 0470 0000 1373 9668 ), I did not even receive so much as an apology. I am still driving around with a damaged vehicle.  My intentions are to forward a copy of this letter to your home office in Bentonville Arkansas and file a report here, at Ripoffreport.com.

Help! Help!  The Walmart employees are harassing me!

The last ditch defense of people who cant fathom that rational people might actually disagree with their actions or opinions - "You must be an employee of Company X!".  Why do you think that people who just disagree are 'harassing' you?  Is this an insight into your psyche?

No I dont work for Walmart, never have.  I dont even shop there.  And even if I were an employee harassing you do you really think someone in Bentonville would be able to figure out who I am?  And if I were an employee harassing you I wonder if you think deep down that I was told to do so by my evil corporate sponsors.  That would be interesting.  Ohhhh im in danger of losing my Walmart job!

Im just a guy who disagrees, and I think it was really crazy to jeopardize the recent ankle surgery waiting for someone to care about a dent in your bumper.  And with a child in tow!  Wow.

No wait I was wrong, the last ditch defense is "Blah blah blah blah blah, that's all I have to say on this subject, and I will never answer another response again!".  I have it feeling it is coming...
Wait for it....

This complaint has gone to Corporate already. You need not keep posting harassing messages. You're already in trouble."
It's common on Ripoff Report when the OP (you) runs out of cogent arguments and just makes you look silly.
For the record, I don't work for Walmart and never did.

Why do you think Walmart is "already in trouble?"

What specifically did they do wrong other than not kiss your butt?

Smashed in?  You have a dent in your left front bumper.  The thing is made of plastic and can probably be banged out at home.  Sure it wont look good as new, but that is why they make bumpers in the first place.

I cant believe after having ankle surgery you stuck around a WalMart waiting for cops to show up - with a 10 year old too!  What did you think would happen?  Everything and everyone would stop for your bumper bender?  The staff would run out and put your groceries in a freezer?  What freezer would they use?  Their freezers are full of inventory.  And I am sure there are rules about putting other peoples stuff in them.

You should have just driven home, and called the insurance company in the morning.  You could have had the ice cream to make you feel better.

Why would you think Walmart is responsible for your damage?

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

Did THEY hit your car and not tell you?

Most stores have policies posted that they are NOT responsible for vehicles in the lot.

If the video had been better, it might have been helpful, but the store is NOT required to provide HD quality video, just in case this happens.

I couldn't spot the ice cream or other items that were ruined on your receipt.  This happened to me in a Safeway parking lot, someone raked the side of my car leaving a 3 foot long indentation and drove off.  Safeway had the signs saying "not responsible" and, of course, it was on me.I hope things work out well for you.
