Promised good pay and miles, but didn't receive. Very short trips, average 150-200 miles per day...or less. Forced to run illegal with/without hours and even with driver fatigue.

Trucks are not maintained and in poor condition, with many DOT violations...aging fleet. For typical DOT inspection, expect 5-11 violations and many citations. Trucks average 500,000 - 1,500,000 miles, with heavy oil consumption.

Driver unloads some freight. Too much wait time with no pay! I've experienced 24 - 48 hour delay times and loads not ready, mostly not drop and hook.

Rude dispatchers who have suggestive log techniques and tell you to run loose leaf logs. Safety department is only a title, there is no safety with this company.

Shop has two doors. They drive the truck in one, fill it with oil and drive it out the other. If you're desperate and have no way out, this still is not the job for you.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Not the best company but I did OK

AUTHOR: Shifter - ()

POSTED: Sunday, April 07, 2013

I think anyone who is only getting 150-200 miles a day should first look to themselves.  When I worked for Wenger, there were slow times at the beginning of the year and then slow times because I was running late alot.  They are going to give their best freight to the best drivers because they want to keep them.

Sometimes you have to work around what shippers do.  Wenger can't control everything a shipper does, like make you wait because they have machinery broken down.

Do your proper pre-trip and insist that a truck doesn't leave the shop without items being fixed.  Again, there is good and bad in shop employees and they are at times under pressure to get you going because there is freight waiting.

I made over $40k fifteen years ago and I knew a guy making $5k more than me and I was late or cut it too close way too often with my deliveries.  It's one of those things...you reap what you sow.  Don't expect a trucking company to bend over backwards for you when you won't do it for them.

I'm sure I had more waiting time than I wanted here and there, but I really liked working for them.  I've had them deadhead me home from Springfield, MO just so I could be home for a holiday.

What I see now in their website is that they are paying .15 cents a mile and the rest is based on your on-tme delivery...WOW, I think that means they want you to be on time.  So, I guess if you want that money, you will be on time huh?

I also see that they make you reimburse all the up front training if you leave early.  Those are all things that they should be telling you up front so if that's not somthing you want to deal with, then don't sign on with them.

I worked there for over 2 years and I can say, I've never felt like they ripped me off.
