fake whois data

AUTHOR: pfritz - ()

media14h.com calls the data public and thinks they have the right to use the data. actually, whois data has to be provided by the domain name provider. but does that give them the right to use and officially publish the data? absolutely not:

1) public means, the public is allowed to VIEW the data (sometimes even under certain conditions like a fee), not that everybody is allowed to USE the data. actually, the contract data never stated, that the data is public. BUT answering to an email request, my provider clearly stated, that misuse like JUST COLLECTING EMAIL data from domain registration and whois data is ILLEGAL

2) regulations state, that if requested THE DOMAIN PROVIDER HAS TO offer whois data. media14h.com would require a statement like "random third parties are allowed to use the data". and that right is neither given nor agreed to by the registrant!

3) whois data has to be accurrate and correct. the data provided on whoismind.com and ipaddressden.com isn't. why is that? because real whois data is not only protected from public searches, but also taken from a main database directly. whois servers don't COPY the data, but only DISPLAY it! and that's a big difference: media14h.com illegally uses the data just by COPYING it to their own database and again by publishing it. the mere fact that they COPY the data from whois servers to their own database is a violation of regulations! and since the data is stored in a separate database, in case the domain registration data changes, the data is not updated automatically. opposed to legal whois data.

4) both my domain name providers in the contract information state, that misuse is prevented. so, i guess it's no coincidence, whois servers don't publish whois data in a manner it can be found in official and public searches (like on google), as opposed to what whoismind.com and ipaddressden.com do. the trouble is, regulations state, that the provider HAS TO offer the data if requested. and that's why third parties are not allowed but have the opportunity to illegally use the data! still, i neither gives media14h.com the right to either collect, copy or publish the data and by far it doesn't grant the right to violate the contract terms like misuse prevention!

media14h.com interferes with contracts they have never been part of. they clearly misuse data they don't have a right to use at all. email addresses are collected, domain registration information is copied, publically publishing it is another illegal use and so is supports illegal spamming, which again according to contract agreements is against the term of preventing misuse. so, media14h.com neither respects contracts, official regulations, privacy or ownership rights.

if you have any domains, you better go to google and search for the used domain registration email address (in quotes) quickly. because unwanted spam messages might become significantly more in near future! on one of the two email addresses published, at this time i receive more than 8 spam messages A DAY, thanks to ipaddressden.com (yes, i know for sure, since it's the only public entry of my email address that can be found!)

confirmation: media14h.com ,whoismind.com + ipaddressden.com, forces people to pay for privacy protection!

AUTHOR: pfritz - ()

recently illegal email spamming became significantely more on some of my email addresses. so, i checked back and this way media14h.com came to my attention, because they publish two of my email address against my will. and one of those two i have not only found on whoismind.com, but also on ipaddressden.com. actually, for the email address that receives the most illegal spam emails, ipaddressden.com is the ONLY provider the data can be received from in an official search.

where do they get the data? according to the email conversation running, they get the data from whois servers. data that has to be provided to register internet domain names for websites. some domain name providers offer protection for the data. but they ask money for it and actually it's not quite cheap. especially if you own a number of domains, the fees add up to quite a sum, which have to be paid regularly (not only once).

what's the trouble? the main trouble is, even though, according to the email conversation, they THINK they protect the email addresses, they don't. in my particular case they named their domain name server and stated, it protects email addresses. they even sent a link with explanation of the technology. the trouble is, they didn't read it themselves or maybe use it just as an excuse for people who don't have any clue and deliberately refuse to protect the data. because even though they TELL the email addresses are protected, they are provided not only once but actually 4 TIMES in clear text. in the page link, the page title, the main headline h1 and the page content. the email address is in all 4 cases provided in PLAIN TEXT. do i just "guess" it's an excuse? no! i'm pretty sure they know and it's an excuse, because otherwise, if they protected the email address, the people they rip-off would not be able to find it! and if they don't find it, they don't pay! so, the rip-off would not work.

what's the rip-off? as stated in the main article, the alleged company media14h.com officially publishes private data against the will and without permission of the owner or the data source. if someone wants protection of the email address, they ask for a fee. this way, opposed to domain name providers and whois servers who protect the data against illegal spamming, they DELIBERATELY SUPPORT ILLEGAL SPAMMING and FORCE people into buying protection! an in my country that's actually not only called fraud but also DURESS!

what's their excuse? they tell, it's public data and they "believe" they are within their rights using them. and they also try to tell you, there is no difference between a whois site with your data they offer in comparison and their own site. well, the difference is, the email addresses CANNOT be found from whois servers or domain name providers in public searches and for that reason prevent illegal spamming, while the entries on their websites CAN be found in public searches. so, there is a significant difference when it comes to support of illegal spamming! even worse is, if you tell them, they refuse to prevent this problem (even though the provide evidence of their option to do so) and also to delete the entries. at this point they DELIBERATELY SUPPORT ILLEGAL SPAMMING! also the question arises, how they got permission to use the data in first place, provided by whois servers? because if i register a domain, i HAVE TO provide certain data like an email address, but with that i DO NOT AGREE to also use the data in ANY kind of way and especially not in unlimited ways. especially not by third parties. i just took a look at my providers contract information, as demanded by them. and the contract information clearly says, the data can be used for various things. but the right to do so have the DOMAIN REGISTRAR (domain provider), the REGISTRY-OPERATOR and ICANN. also the contract information clearly states to PREVENT MISUSE. could this be the reason why no provider or whois data is found in official searches? opposed to the websites of media14h.com. so who gave them the right to USE the data?

how far do they go? it seems they are ready to go to the bitter end and think people don't sue, because they refuse to delete entries. they don't even offer serious reasons and just go in circles, offering excuses. they just "BELIEVE" (as they called it in an email), they are within their rights. actually, i'm austrian and in austria we have a privacy protection law. but that doesn't stop them either.
