I received a bid from Empire Today to install wood and carpet. Carpet King, Inc d/b/a Flooring Expo matched competitor's bid and charged me a $1,500.00 deposit for carpet and wood installation on July 31, 2011, with a verbal agreement to move all furniture prior to installation. In other to get my money, William Bailey employed sales people to bad mouth and knock Empire Today its competitor. The sales people both said that Empire Today only uses imitation wood in people's homes to make their bid cheaper. The remaining balance of $1,180.08 for the installation was paid in full on September 7, 2011.

Carpet King & its President William Bailey engaged in false , misleading and deceptive acts and practices in violation of the Minnesota consumer protection Statutes, Minn. Stat. Chapter 325F. Specifically, The merchant failed to completely install the carpet and wood I paid for in full. In addition, Carpet King breached the verbal agreement to move all furniture prior to installation. William Bailey refused all attempts to resolve the claim in a fair and equitable manner without the need for further legal action and unnecessarily having another contractor complete the job.

Since Carpet King has refused to comply with the full terms of the matched bid already fully paid for to complete wood and carpet installation and to move all furniture prior to installation since July 2011, I am requesting a full refund in the amount of $2,140.64 without any responsibility for a restocking fee for failure to complete installation. All of my furniture is still laying all around since July 2011 and I am not able watch television comfortably in my home. I regret doing business with a disreputable company like this that likes to prey on innocent people. What makes it worse is that Carpet King d/b/a Flooring Expo is allowed to use the Better Business Bureau name to cheat people.

Wrong!!

Wrong, wrong, wrong....   I note from the report that you have not included your name.  However, based on the description of your issues it is clear that you are ... Mr. "O".  Mr. "O", you should be ashamed of yourself and your story.  First, you lost your case with the credit card company, you then lost your case in small claims court and then you lost your case again in District Court.  Shame on you for your one-sided rediculous version of the events that you created to save money on your order.

So, here is the company's side...  First we never say derogitory things about our competitors - that is against our policies and code of conduct.  Second, you signed a document on four occasions (2 for the wood and 2 for the carpet), that in order to save money you would move all furniture.  Those same documents stated there were no oral agreements.  Also, when our installers went to your home to install your carpet your home was litterally packed with furniture - wall to wall.  When the installers left, you became so upset that your scheme to brow beat us to move your furniture that you drove to our Maple Grove store and began berating our female store manager - that lady was so shake after your visit that she contacted the office and was instructed to contact the police.    During your diatribe in the store, at one point you were also so upset that a customer in the store reported that they stayed in the store because they thought you would become physically.  Also during that time when you were in the store menacing our employee,  you were so angry and excited that you instructed your wife to ... "SIT" and pointed at the floor.   She obeyed you and mmeadiately did so by sitting on the tile floor in our store

This site has given your version of events false standing.   Problem is your version is not a reflection of reality and it is WRONG!

It's all about getting the money

Hi,
I used to work for this company and the sad fact is, "It's all about the money". Sales staff were pressured at all times to get the full amount or even half the amount for the sale and installation up front, even before the Carpet King estimator took measurements at a home or office. Get the money!

Now money is fine of course, but if you are confident in the ability of your company to deliver a quality finish without a problem or at least allow for the possibility of problems and present these issues to the customer allowing for unforeseen variables, then why are you so worried about being paid MR BAILEY?

Doesn't look like you have much confidence in your policy of holding customer satisfaction as "the priority".
