This was my letter sent December 3, 2008 to Wilshire Credit:

Dear President:

We have paid on this loan for over 10 years. We have not been late on it, or rarely, because of unusual circumstances, and always paid on the 15th per Western Union Moneygram.

But in the past 6 months, you at Wilshire, have been trying to somehow make us believe that you are going to foreclose on this house, with at least 3-4 letters per week even though we are not behind on payments.

Tactic #1 - You claim that insurance has not been in force, so you added insurance even though we've always had it.

Tactic #2 - You paid the taxes on this house even though in the 10 years we've had the loan, never have the taxes not been paid.

Tactic #3 - Even though I have PER YOUR INSTRUCTIONS, paid extra as the record shows, nothing has been resolved.

In closing, we have asked at least 5 or 6 times to have our interest rate lowered from 9.5% (which, with a good pay record, should never be), to a rate of 5% for having a decent payment record. We are not deadbeats! Every month you are inventing different tactics to scare us into believing that you can take our home.

For the record, I want this letter put in your hand (via FAX) and I want this matter resolved in the next 30 days.

I am sending a copy of this to all agencies -Attorney General, Consumer Affairs and the Governor of Oregon to make sure you stop harassing hard working citizens that are trying to pay their bills.

Just a Thought...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

You sent this letter on December 8th, and I bet nothing has happened. With either them or the Attorney General. Well the AG may have sent you back a reply that says to contact a lawyer but that was probably it.

You state that you have "not been late" but then add in "or rarely". Well then you have been late, but I think it may have been more than rarely. Mortgages are usually DUE on the 1st, but give you anywhere from 10-15 days grace period before they access a late fee. However, if you don't pay on the 1st you are still LATE. I think this is your case because you are paying a hefty fee to send it by Western Union ON the 15th.

No loan company is going to lower your interest rate just because you ask. Even if you are the world's best customer and pay 6 months ahead. However, there is nothing that says you can't attempt to re-finance or modify your loan with another lender.
