SEO Reputation Management at its best!

I too have worked for Winn Dixie for more than 15 years. It is very true what has been said about time cards being tampered with. Times have been changed to accomadate the payroll. The pressure to get a job done in time is so intimadating that most will clock out and finsh thier work to be kept from being harrased at work. Managers always turn a deaf ear to this. Not all managers are bad at all but the one I worked for was as crooked as they come and will continue to win the battle against him because of his store numbers. Payroll is always good, profits are always good, (considering the amount of free items he receives from vendors or marks truck shortages when they are not)!

He repeatdly talks bad about his employess and cusses about customers as soon as they walk away from him. There is no open door policy because if you have a problem "you will be the problem" and be considered trouble. Priceing is not set by store managers so that is not a problem at store level but employee moral is in the dumps, the company looks to make remodling a priority and continues to have $6.00 stocks!! So much for employees reaping benefits at this time.
Ok, I have had my say!!!!

#1 UPDATE Employee

Not entirely true

AUTHOR: Shay - (U.S.A.)

I worked for that exact store for a year, and I loved it. I never had any of the problems listed above. The reason I had to leave was because I went on kidney dialysis for 2 years and wasn't able to work. I have now had a transplant and am back at Winn-Dixie, because I loved it so much. It's the best job I've ever had, and I enjoy it very much.

As for the store manager at the store mentioned above, he isn't the nicest fellow, but he isn't crooked like what is talked about here. I have never heard of him doing such things. My fiancee works for him now and has worked for him for 6 years or so now. Like I said, he's not the nicest manager one could have, but he isn't crooked.

Then again this was 4 years ago. Maybe it was a different manager back then.

Winn-Dixie in Cincinnati force all their store brands down everyone's throat

AUTHOR: Phil - (U.S.A.)

Winn-Dixie came to Cincinnati by buying 25 or so Thriftway stores from Richard Lindner, the brother of Cincinnati Reds owner Carl. WD ran the chain into the ground in a hurry. The last T-Way closed in late 2004, nine years after they took over.

The worst thing they did was force all their store brands down everyone's throat. I remember stocking the cookie aisle and the stuff would come in with unbelievably close expiration dates. I would put a case of 12 up and a week later take 10 down to be thrown away. I was in grocery but the same stuff happened in meat and dairy, where it was obviously a bigger problem. They slashed staff and the stores started looking dirtier. People observed that you always had to wait in line even though there were few customers in the store. By the time I left in 1997, most of the good managers were gone or on the way out. Business dropped by roughly half in the store I was working at in the first two years.

For those of you still working there, I have to say you are on the Titanic, and it has already hit the iceberg. The ship is sinking. I can't feel sorry for you if you don't get off. The mistreatment you speak of might be a blessing in disguise if it causes you to leave now and take another job, even if you must start at the bottom. After all, how far from the bottom can you possibly be right now?

You see, WD has been closing hundreds of stores under its "reorganization." They are getting other chains to take over leases at their best locations, but many of their locations are real dogs, or already have all the main competitors nearby. On those locations, they have to keep paying the rent. Of the three T-Ways near my house, only one was bought out and the other two are sitting vacant.

The only way out of this would be a trip to bankruptcy court. But the management is too stubborn to do this and save what is left of the company and the jobs. So from the way things look now, they will keep getting in tight spots, then leave a few more markets to get some breathing room, then let the death spiral continue until the company just vanishes.

So get out while the gettin' is good. By the way, they sold me on the stock plan, and I lost $1,300 on the deal, but would have lost anouther grand had I held onto it a few more months. Thanks for listening.

I guess my rip-off experience is that they came in acting like this growing company with great opportunities and they were about the worst run business I had ever heard of. Many good employees had solid careers ruined by this firm. While noone was getting rich, at least they had jobs, and now they don't.

Winn-Dixies contradictory and messed up policies

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

I have been working for Winn-Dixie for 13 months now. I have been promoted to Dairy/Frozen Food Manager 4 months ago. Since I started there I realized the Bull**** winn-dixie has to offer. I have witnessed the following: Forcing school kids to work until closing time (12pm). Unfair treatment of employees, specifically towards ethnic minorities. Poor Working conditions, Unsatisfactory condiction of stores, and forcing employees to perform tasks not listed on their job description.

An example is a CSA (Customer Service Associate) forced to work in the Dairy, Produce, Deli/Bakery and Meat Departments, but not recieving compensation for that. I questioned the new assistant managers and their qualifications. there are becoming more and more lazy and unqualified assistant, co, store, and district managers. Winn-dixie is hitting the tank. I agree with Molly and I know her feeling. When I dont finish my work=I get chewed. When I finish my work and I go over on my time by 30 minutes=I get chewed. Its a no win situation. Also, Heres the key to the workbrain. If you decide to stay past your scheduled time. The workbrain automatically clocks you out and that punch that you keyed in later is null and void. I havent been able to get my vacation approved, my d**n health is bad. I really need a vacation. However, My manager will not approve my vacation. Why? I dont know. Actually WD stocks is down to 3 dollars now. I constantly hear and witness the treatment managers give to their employees. Cursing them on the sales floor, changing schedules without employee consent, forcing schoolkids to stay til close, forcing associates to perform dutes and tasks that not in their job description. Theres much, much more!

Winn dixie now uses computers to steal from employees

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

i have worked many years for WD now they are useing a computer system called workbrain that STEALS time from employees. if you punch in 5 min early you dont get paid for it if you work 5 minutes extra you dont get paid for it. if you punch in 1 min late it puts it on file and they will reprimand you for comeing late. also when you clock in at a specific time say 10:00 if the computer is busy it wont clock you in until 10:05 and mark you late. in effect they force you to work off the clock and not get paid! also if you take 1 min extra for lunch it docks you for that minute.

now all this ties in with being told to work off the clock by the managers. witch is why i agree with the commets of Molly. i have been told even by the vice president of the company at employee meetings to WORK OFF THE CLOCK!! I have worked some weeks 41 hours but been paid for less then 40 due to there system of skimming down time.

WDn needs to dump the workbrain system and pay employyes for ALL WORK HOURS! and stop telling managers and vice presidents of the company to condone working off the clock!!
