EDitor's UPDATE info: Rip-off Report has had several complaints that victims are not receiving the refunds promised. We have been in contact with the Company and have made them aware of these issues. They have assured us that refunds are being given to those who are providing them with all the correct contact information requested by them. They have also provided confirmation of proof of over 2000 refunds to date. They, again, apologized for the delay and reported that credit to your account could take as long as 4-5 days.
Rip-off Report is hoping they will live up to what they have promised, we think they will, we'll see. I was so proud of myself. I fell for this great scam regarding a CC from World Benefits but had the inteligence to do some research. I came across all of the postings on this site and got very scared. I was only 3 days from the money being removed from my account. I called the company and after being on hold for half an hour got to talk to a nice yound gentleman.
I told him my situation and that I wanted to know if I would be receiving a CC. He said the people who did not receive credit cards were the ones who lied on their applications and that as long as I didn't lie I didn't need to worry about it. Sorry, I wasn't going to fall for that bull. So I told this nice gentleman that I wanted to cancel my contract and he sounded pissed but said "Ok". I then asked specifically, "So the $299 will not be withdrawn from my account?", "No", "Ok". But I still didn't feel comfortable about it. I have been checking my balance in my account every day and sure enough, I looked today and the $299 was gone.
I immediately called and after being on hold for 20 minutes, I finally got a nice young lady. I told her my situation and she said "Oh I am sorry, my financial reports don't come through until the 26th (today being the 19th) but you can call back and request the money then. Request... they stole from me. It was an unauthorized debit from my account. I was very upset at this point, so I went directly to my local bank Manager, who I know quite well and explained my embarassing situation. She definately felt bad for me and helped me fill out the form stating it was an unauthorized debit and that we would get it all taken care of and if my account overdrafted because of it, she would personally remove the charges.
Thank goodness there is still some good customer service in this world. Please do not fall into the same trap I did. I know I will be having at least one more conversation with the people from World Benefits, but I doubt it will do any good. Good luck to anyone else out there, and though you may be embarassed, but take the licking and go talk to your bank, they really can help. Don't let pride get in the way of your money.
