I have been playing at Worldwinner.com for about 5 years. I would play pretty infrequently here and there and within the past 4 months I have been playing pretty aggressively.

Worldwinner is a site where you pay money to play in tournaments with other participants and there are cash winnings for each play if you win or place.

They have a system of "fair ranking" that is not fair at all. Its not based upon your ability but also other things like how many games you play (win or not)and how much you spend on tournaments. Since I have been playing quite a bit lately they have been moving me out of the HIGHER ranks and into the Elite Ranks where there are only two tournaments. Nobody plays and there is no chance of winning or playing for the same amounts of money in Higher ranks. The most money available to play for is in the Higher ranks. I have been moved to Elite and then back to Higher ranks in a couple days but have been permanently removed from Higher ranks for good.

To boot, Their own rules state you can have two accounts per household and I set up a subsequent user to play under and they stated the following (and I copied and pasted directly from their email) "This account is a clear duplicate. No two players play the games alike. It is clear after analyzing the game play that the same user is playing on both accounts. All three member accounts also had the same password and the shawnpperry account was created shortly after your original account was placed into elite ranks. The scores and performance on the shawnpperry account warrants that of an elite ranks player, something a new user would not be able to accomplish. Again, the game analysis shows the same user playing on both accounts.

We have refunded the $170 in deposits and voided all winnings. We cannot reopen the account"

Their rules don't say anything of the like - only that you can have two accounts per household - not that your use would be monitored and that we can close your account whenever we feel like it. I am planning legal action against the firm. Please join me in boycotting the firm - I'm not the first one this has happened to and i won't be the last.

I agree, the policies are fair.

I have been playing on the site for about 2 years, without problems. I lost pretty often at first, but then got good, now I win often and I'm one of the people getting the scores that I always said were impossible. It takes LOTs of practice. Took me a year to get good enough to win regularly.

Also, there policies are fair. I have an account and my mother has an account on the same computer. Even though I think she occassionally plays on my account by accident when I leave it on b/c she is not computer savvy, we still don't have a problem, probably because we play totally different games. I have never had a problem and their policy is totally fair. It keeps someone like me from getting super good on one account, then opening a new one and pretending to be a rookie. Works for me!

Response from WorldWinner

AUTHOR: Brian - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 07, 2006

The WorldWinner web site does clearly state that only one account is allowed per person. It is explained in sections 2.13 and 2.14 of the WorldWinner Terms and Conditions, as follows:

"You may establish only one account per person, and up to two accounts per computer or address, to participate in the activities offered on the Site. The Site reserves the right to monitor any effort to establish multiple accounts; in the event the Site discovers that you have opened more than one account per person, all additional accounts will be closed without notice and continued violation will result in the termination of any and all of your accounts ... Anyone who displays behavior consistent with the use of unfair methods on the Site, including but not limited to the opening and/or use of multiple accounts, the use of unauthorized or altered software or hardware to assist play, intentionally poor play in certain games in order to achieve a broader competitive advantage (i.e. "sandbagging"), the deliberate transfer of money between accounts (i.e. "money laundering"), harassment of other participants, posting of objectionable material, any breach of the terms of the agreement between you and the Site, or any breach of the security of your account or the Site (collectively, "Abuse"), shall be subject to immediate sanction (as determined by the Site in its sole discretion), up to and including account termination and blocking of Site access and, in the case of money laundering, disclosure to the FBI in accordance with the terms of certain recently passed federal legislation. Additionally, all winnings (if any) may be voided at the sole discretion of the Site."

WorldWinner strives to provide players with the fairest and most enjoyable competitions possible, and we take fairness violations very seriously. The person who posted this complaint was an experienced player who created a new account with the intent of bypassing our FairMatching system to take advantage of less experienced, lower-ranked players. When our Fairness team detects this behavior occurring, they immediately shut down the offending account (as explained in our Terms and Conditions) and they ask the player to use their original account instead. This protects the integrity of our FairMatching system by ensuring that all players are competing at their correct skill levels.

Melanie may claim that she was unaware of this rule, but the fact is that she opened the second account under a different name and initially claimed that it did not belong to her. She admits in her complaint that it actually was her account, and she mentions that she has had several years of experience playing on our site. We can only conclude from this that she was indeed violating our rules intentionally. We believe that our Fairness Team was justified in deactivating her account.
