York Construction David J. York Poor workmanship on kitchen remodel. Pontiac, Michigan

My name is David York. I have been remodeling for over 25 yrs. and I'm very meticulous in every detail of every job I perform and have an excellent reputation of customer satisfaction. I have and always had the highest referral rating possible from service magic at 100%. I can supply endless references to a potential customer from several eastern states from Michigan to Florida. My core competencies are kitchen and bathroom remodels and have journeyman's status in all skilled trades. I take great pride in my work and have never left a job until even the most demanding customer was satisfied.

Most of my professional career has been spent in high end homes in areas such as Rochester, MI. and South Tampa, FL. working for very wealthy clients. With the economy the way it is I've found myself having to take jobs in "not so nice areas" such as the home I worked in owned by the person filling this complaint. The minute I walked in I knew I was in for a challenge but needed the work.

After assuring the "nice" lady that I could work wonders for the VERY LOW budget she claimed to be burdened with, we worked hard to transform her horribly destroyed kitchen into an extremely beautiful show piece but endured constant disapproval from the increasingly hypothetical "nice" lady. We soon realized that this is a very miserable person and was intent on making those around her as miserable as she was.

It is incredible that she is unhappy with the wood floor repair considering we told her many times it is impossible to match the two different types of flooring that had to now be combined where she ripped a cabinet out from between them and especially considering the kitchen side of the wood is practically black with disgusting mold that she in explicitly lives with. And there is no "valley" in the area I repaired. That is a complete fabrication on her part in a further attempt to torture me for some reason.

She, of course, failed to mention all the custom work we did at a tiny fraction of realistic cost as a favor because we felt sorry for her not having the money to do everything she wanted. We gave her what she wanted anyway and more but she still had the audacity to complain, if that gives you an idea of what kind of person she is.

The saddest part of this whole thing is that she is complaining about the side of the cabinet that she destroyed by working on it herself and even included a picture of it. We installed a wood veneer over it and finished it for FREE!! The quart of paint she purchased for the other cabinet I customized and painted was not enough to finish the cabinet in her picture so we told her we would pick some up for her and return in a couple days to perfect the project we were doing for free but she never returned our calls. I still have the paint.

Finally, as for the grout on the tile back splash that she added to the job since she was able to get us to save her so much money and then got me to mosaic almost for free... grout sealer was invented for white floor grout to con unknowing consumers into believing it would keep it from getting stained but never worked and people still think it is something they need but they don't and especially on dark wall grout. I explained this to her but she is so uptight that she refuses to believe someone as experienced as myself.

I will also try to include a picture of the job if this service allows me to, and as you can see there is no valley in the floor we installed and the kitchen is beautiful and as perfect as anyone could make it on the ridiculous budget we had to work with. I'm sorry we ever got involved with this person and even more sorry we tried so hard to help her out by doing this much work for such little money.
