I took my computer to a company called Your Geek in s****.>

I came in the shop there were a couple of customers before me. As Duncan assisted the customers the recptionist (I think her name is Tabitha) asked could she help me. I told her I came to pick up my computer. As Duncan was speaking with the other customer he interjected and said he just had to put something together and it would only be about 15 mins. He says to me "yeah I've been working on your computer for like a week and a half trying to get your files back" blah, blah, blah. Put in remembrance that I bought my computer in on Saturday, they were closed on Sunday so technically they had it for 4 days. I waited and waited and waited, and it seems to me he was stalling with the customer ahead of me. I had to go because I had to go to work; I said I'd be back to pick it up. The next day (Thursday) around noon I got a call from them that I missed. I called them back (spoke to the Asian guy) and now I was being told that the drive kept crashing and that they had to find another drive around the shop, I wouldn't be charged for it, and it should be ready tomorrow. I didn't hear from them on Friday. Saturday I got a call from Duncan telling me the same thing the other guy did as if it was my first time hearing it but now he goes, they couldn't find a used one so they were going to go ahead and put a new one on there. I asked him when would my computer be ready, he then told me by Monday and I rebutted that they've been telling me that all week. Monday comes around, no call. On Tuesday, I got a call from them stating my computer was ready.

When I picked it up, I had the guy (Asian guy) to power it on. They had downgraded my operating system from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. I had Microsoft office 2013 but because they didn't have that in the shop they could only put Microsoft 2010 on my PC. When I got home and start using my PC, I noticed that the display would disfigure and the screen would go gray. Before I brought my computer in this was not happening. I had this issues months ago, while still under the factory warranty, but Dell fixed the issue; apparently it has something to do with an update. I called Your Geek the following day and the Asian guy told me to bring it back in, they'd take a look at it and I wouldn't be charged for it. Saturday I brought the computer in. I spoke to Duncan. He asked me what was wrong with it, I told him and I showed him because I recorded it on my phone but he also saw for himself as he powered up the PC. I also mentioned that I got an error message about performing a task, I was told that I needed administrative permission to back up files. He wanted me to show him the message but it never did pop up while there at the shop and I told him that I did a Windows Update before I came, he blowed it off by saying that I needed to insert a flash disk to back up files. That wasn't my issue, I was getting an error message. He then tells me that they couldn't be responsible for every issue of the PC after a customer takes it out the store. He asked me what did I bring it in for, and I told him so basically he felt like they did their job and whatever else happened tough luck. I told him I wasn't having this issue before I brought in my computer. He reiterated that they can't be responsible for every issue that goes on with the PC after they fix it. He then tells me that the LCD is going out and that he's 100% sure it's my laptop's screen. I rebutted that I'm 100% sure that it is not because Dell fixed this issue months ago, and I never had to send off my computer, and didn't drop it off to a shop; they fixed it remotely and that the issue had something to do with an update. He still pretty much let me know that it wasn't theirf ault. I asked to speak to a manager. He told me, he was the manager. I just left. Now I'm getting a popup message stating that I need to activate Windows in 19 days to continue using all the features. I will be contacting him soon about this as well.

Final Outcome with Your Geek

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, March 11, 2015

After I filed my Rip-off report I visited the website of Your Geek for the first time. I found out that the so-called manager of the store was not the acutal owner so I decided to take up my issues specifically with the owner only. The difference in professionalism and customer service was like night and day. The owner ran a diagnostic for my laptop while I was there in the store and explained to me in more details what might be the issue. He believed that it was a hardware malfunction, however because of my experience he offered to replace the screen at no cost. It is unfortunate that I had to go to this measure because the owner is a really good Christian guy, but for now on I'll be sure to find out if the person in charge is the actual "Head Honcho" before jumping the gun.
