I signed up for Zoosk thinking it was a typical dating site. I paid $75 only to find that I got "matches" but couldn't see profiles, send emails, or anything else without paying additional funds. I got a message that someone was interested in me, but I couldn't see her profile, or respond to her email without paying more money. I have belonged to several dating sites, but never encountered this! I tried to cancel my account, but the site will not let you cancel without getting an approval to cancel. So, I sent an email to the address indicated. No response. I sent a second email. No response. I sent an email to their legal department. I got an email back that my request had been answered, but my account is still active and no refund. I tried calling, but they are only open 9-5 which is when I am working, not when I'm likely to be accessing Zoosk. I will try calling again, but I'm doubtful. I looked up their cancellation policy which is not easy to find and it states that you need to send a letter..a letter to their office requesting a cancellation. If they don't respond, I will have to cancel my checking account to keep them from drawing a renewal from my account. I can't believe this is a legal operation.

Thanks. I already checked with my bank, but will give it a second try. i just didn't expect this type of scam since they are so prominent on Facebook. I will not make that mistake twice. I have also notified Facebook, but don't know if they care.

I am very sorry to hear of your experience with Zoosk. A quick check of their reviews show you arent the only one being scammed by this company. Even the employees are venting here:

My advice? If you are using a debit card from a major bank, call the bank and see if you can block future charges. Most banks can do this, but you may have to speak to a manager. Once that is complete, you also have the option of asking the bank to issue a provisional credit for your $75 because you weren't made aware of Zoosks silly refund scam until AFTER they had charged your card. Most banks will do this - they will contact Zoosk directly and ask for an explanation, but the money will be back in your account typically within a day.
And finally, before you sign up for anything online, do your due diligence - for instance, if you had entered "Zoosk.com reviews" into Google before opening your wallet, you would have seen how shady and questionable this company really is. Good luck going forward!
