i invested a good amount of money to purchase racehorses and then the trainer quit working for the stable so there is now no trainer to claim a horse and when i asked for my money back, the stable manager said he would send it all back but a month has passed and he has not send my money back.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

AS A RACEHORSE OWNER MYSELF...

AUTHOR: Sherri - Emeryville (U.S.A.)

I don't think these syndicates are a good way to go. There is very little money to be made, as most of the money goes to the general partners, with whatever left divided amongst the other members. Granted, there isn't that much out of pocket in "day money" or other expenses, and the one good thing is that it is an easy way to get you owner's license, which means that you can claim horses on your own.

I found that the absolute best way to get into the game is to buy a small percentage of a horse from an owner (10-20%). That way, there is not too much initial output, the expenses are not overwhelming, and it is a good way to gauge whether or not owning racehorses is really for you.

If the horses owned by this "racing partnership" are still on the grounds of the racetrack, there IS a licensed trainer involved somewhere..otherwise, the horses could not be on the grounds.

If all else fails and you don't get your money back, file a complaint with the horseracing board.

Good luck.
