Jay Suites was founded two years ago with one mission in mind: to bring a quality office space to small businesses and promote entrepreneurship in the NYC area. We do this by providing fully-furnished executive offices with conference rooms and a kitchen at rates that startups can afford. The post above - most likely authored by the building's landlord or in their behalf - is not only fictitious but fraudulent.
We signed a lease at 130 William Street for the 6th Floor of the building. At the time, the building was undergoing a major renovation of the elevators and lobby. The lease was signed contingent on the repairs to the building being completed. Anyone who entered the building - whose tenant base consists of Berkley College - can vouch that nothing was done for over 2 years. The elevators remained broken, ridden with graffiti, and the lobby run down.
Eventually, our small business tenants were getting fed up with the quality of the building and the lack of maintenance. We brought an action against the landlords to do the repairs or we would leave the building. Instead of addressing the issue, the landlord repeatedly broke into the space, stole our tenant files and leases, shut down the electricity, and cut off access to the phones and internet.
Then, the landlords opened up the same business in the building operating under the name "Skyline Offices." Instead of abiding by the contract terms, the landlords decided to compete against their own tenants. So after consulting with our lawyers, we picked up our things, moved our existing tenants to our other locations in Manhattan, made sure the tenants that did not want to relocate were refunded their security deposits, and left the premises.
If anyone is interested in learning more about the problems the landlords caused us they may reach us by email. We have police reports and court documents to prove the story.
