On April 4, 2007 a Chicago woman purchased a handbag from Jennifer Atherton of Fenton, MI via craigslist.org. Emails and phone calls were exchanged in order to work out payment and shipping details.

After the Chicago woman received confirmation that her payment to Ms. Atherton was successful via PayPal, the Chicago woman waited for her package; but it never arrived.

After two weeks and still no bag, the Chicago woman called Ms. Atherton on the phone to inquire as to where her package was. Ms. Atherton replied that she did, in fact, ship the item and if it was not received by that following Monday, that the Chicago woman contact her immediately.

As the following Monday came and went, there was still no package. The Chicago woman emailed Ms. Atherton requesting a tracking number in order to make sure the item was shipped to the correct address. The Chicago woman received no return email.

A few days later, the Chicago woman called Ms. Atherton on the phone, but got no answer. At this point, the Chicago woman realized that she had probably been the victim of a scam, so she dialed Ms. Atherton again, but from a different phone number. Ms. Atherton picked up the call and when she learned that it was the Chicago woman seeking her package, she hung up on her.

The Chicago woman filed a dispute, then a claim, with PayPal, in which PayPal ruled in the Chicago woman's favor; PayPal was unable to recoup any of the funds she had paid to Ms. Atherton. The Chicago woman never received her package.

The worst part about this situation is that Ms. Atherton works as a real estate agent for Century 21 Park Place in Fenton, MI. If she's being fraudulent over a handbag, imagine what she is doing to people who are purchasing homes from her.

It is highly recommended that if any consumer comes into contact with Jennifer Atherton of Fenton, MI that they cease any and all communications with her. Current records indicate that her place of business is located at 14229 Torrey Rd
Fenton, MI 48430; current records indicate that she uses the email address of aandj48436@yahoo.com, and current records indicate that she uses two separate phone numbers, 1-800-251-5802 and 989-666-0877.

Century21 - FENTON (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 15, 2008
I am the Owner of CENTURY 21 Park Place. Jennifer Atherton is not an employee of this company, she was for a brief time but is no longer employed here. We have been in business for over 30 years and we take pride with our great customer satisfaction. The disagreement she had with the customer over the purse issues, does not reflect the interigity of me or my company.

Using my company name in your article is slander. I have worked very hard to establish such a great company and I, nor my company, was not representing her in your purse sale.
