I rented a welding machine from Barr Equipment Service in Orlando FL. that i needed to do do a job i had bid on. They charged me $75 dollars for the machine on a friday. The job was to be done on saturday but after arriving on the jobsite and setting up the machine i discovered it did not work.I was unable to return it and get a new one as they're closed on weekends. being unable to perform the work i had agreed to do.

I had to apologise to my customer who was counting on me to do the work and leave the job not only embarrased but without the $1000 i was going to get had i done the work.

On monday i brought the machine back first thing in the morning and explained what happened and asked for a refund. they tested the machine out and saw that it wasnt working. I thought that was that but then some tech started messing with the internal parts and trying all these different thing until he finally got it going.

"Well it works" they said. I couldnt believe what i was hearing. Yeah it works, after you practically performed surgery on it i exclaimed. All my attempts to explain that it didnt work as it was supposed to were in vain. they refused to give me a refund.

So if your ever in Orlando and need to rent some equipment, do yourself a favor and avoid Barrs Equipment Service like the plague..unless of course your a certified repar technician and dont mind ripping the guts out of the equipment you rent in order to get it to work properly.

KNOW HOW TO USE EQUIPMENT BEFORE YOU RENT

AUTHOR: Dan - Orlando (U.S.A.)

I JUST LEARNED OF THIS NEGATIVE REPORT FILED ABOUT MY COMPANY. WE HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 1961 AND DID NOT GET THE GOOD REPUTATION WE HAVE BY TREATING A CUSTOMER THE WAY WE WERE DESCRIBED IN THE RIPPOFF SECTION. FIRST OF ALL, ANY EQUIPMENT RENTED BY US IS TESTED BEFORE IT GOES OUT. THE MACHINE IN QUESTION IS OUR MOST POPULAR RENTAL SO WE MAKE SURE IT IS IN READY TO RENT STATUS AT ALL TIMES. THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT IS COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR. I REMEMBER THE CUSTOMER VIVIDLY. HE BROUGHT THE MACHINE BACK ON MONDAY AND SAID IT DID NOT WORK. WE HOOKED IT UP AND IN FACT IT DID NOT WORK. THE CUSTOMER HAD NOT INSTALLED THE CORRECT WIRE (WE DO NOT SUPPLY WIRE OR GAS) AND HAD NOT CHANGED THE POLARITY TO THE CORRECT SETTING. THE CUSTOMER IN INSTALLING THE WIRE INCORRECTLY HAD BURNED THE WIRE BACK IN THE TIP. THIS IS A COMMON MISTAKE, BUT A NEW TIP SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED BY THE CUSTOMER. TIPS ARE CONSUMABLES AND A FEW ARE NEEDED FOR EVERY JOB. THE CUSTOMER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND HAD HE TREATED US WITH MORE RESPECT I WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED A REFUND. THE CUSTOMER DID NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE EQUIPMENT AND THAT WAS NOT OUR FAULT.
