My boyfriend and I went to our local store to purchase a living room set and a dining room set. We had done rent to own before through rent a tire so we knew the basics of 90 days same as cash and payments, etc. So, we pick out what we want a sectional and a dinette. They deliver it a few days later. We had been told that our furniture would be brand new when we got it. I happened to be at work during the delivery but when I got home it was obvious the sectional was not new. It had scuffs and small stains and wasn't wrapped in plastic or anything. The dinette was new so I guess they get credit for that. I made numerous payments always on time, but usually before I even made it into the store on the due date I was already being called numerous times. Finally, I got to the point that I just couldn't afford it anymore so I talked to a manager and told him to come and pick up the couch but that I would keep the dinette set and continue to pay on that. When I got home that evening, they were already there loading up my couch and my DINETTE! I told them that I had already talked to the manager and I was planning on keeping the dinette but that now I no longer wanted it because he had just tossed it in his truck and it was probably scratched up by now.

A few weeks later, I was thinking about just using the money I had paid in to them to purchase a digital camera or something else cheap just so that money didn't go to waste. NOTE: When I had originally signed my contract they told me that I could always use my money paid in and put it towards other merchandise. Come to find out you can only use it for a like item which would be another living room set or another dining set. So, when I had been in the store previously they had had a deal of a cheaper living room set for $299 or $399 and so I asked them if I could put my $320 I had paid in towards a couch and the guy tells me that they don't carry anything that cheap and that all of their furniture is high-end and the cheapest is about $7-800. So, now I am screwed and they are holding my $500 paid in hostage. Oh yeah also, I saw the identical sofa that I was paying about $1200 (same as cash price) for $599 at another store. I will never do business with them again they are total scammers and just tell you whatever you want to hear to sign a deal. I was constantly being harrassed over the phone even before my due dates. They are awful people that work for an even worse company. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH RENT A CENTER!!!!

I worked at RAC for 10 years and time and time again people just sighn the paperwork and get the stuff not realizing what is says. Did you expect thet you would get to use your credit to get something for free? You used the products so why dont you think you should pay.
