After having worked for this company via a temp agency, I discovered through complaints of current employees that Papa Pita Bakery has diverted employee wages by causing them to work overtime and not paying the overtime by saying " we only pay overtime after 80 hours in a two week period. So if you worked 60 hours one week and 30 hours the next week you only be paid for ten hours of overtime instead of the 20 you earned.

This company plays on the fear of many of the mexican / spanish people. Everyone is afraid to speak up or file legal complaints.

You do not want to be employed by this employer. NO Benefits, No insurance, No paid holidays.

For a succesful Persian refugee from Iran, this man is more frugal than any Jewish business owner.

He is a rippoff scammer living high on the sweat and backs of his employees.

False report

AUTHOR: Reed - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, October 09, 2013

The accusation is baseless and simply false.

We compute and pay overtime based on a weekly basis.  Each week is considered separate for purposes of determining overtime.  Any hours worked beyond 40 hours in a one week period, even if ½ an hour more than 40 (or 10 minutes for that matter), that ½ hour is paid at the regular rate x 1.5 regardless of what hours are worked the following week.   Therefore, referring to the given example, which is false, if a person works 60 hours one week and 30 hours the next for a total of 90 hours for the two week period, the amount paid at the end of the two week period would be 70 hours regular pay and 20 hours overtime.   It is that simple.

Additionally, any person who works for the temporary agency we use will be paid as described above, no exceptions.
