Arlington, TexasOn August 7, 2004, my husband made a valient attempt to purchase a new Honda Element from this dealership.
After several hours of negotiations, an offer was made on the part of this dealership; 'I will own this vehicle today for $xx,xxx.' was put on the table by the sales staff. This quote and the several quotes prior to this included side air bags.
The quote was verbally verified as well as in writting. The sales staff took the quote back to management and the quote was DENIED. The staff came back and said they could not honor the quote that they had just given!
Once the upper managment had gotten involved, my husband felt as it he was being lied to over and over again. My brother, who was with him, stated to them that this was no way to run a business and that they should honor it as a good faith gesture and take the loss and chalk it up to experience.
Management then said this was not their fault and that they weren't going to lose money. They then tried to blame the mishap on us; stating that we should have known it wasn't the right model for that price.
Needless to say, the purchase was not made from this dealership. We ended up purchasing our vehicle from David McDavid in Irving (Ryan Gimell, salesperson). In fact, David McDavid phoned Vandergriff to have that vehicle sent over to their dealership in order to sell it to us and Vandergriff refused, knowing it was us that wanted to purchase it. It was the only one in the area with side air bags.
Stay away from Van Tuyl dealerships...let them know Texans are not going to put up with horrible customer service,...we know better.
