kankakee auto mart Robert L Scroggins Stole car that i lease from them, then they refuse to give money and or vehicle back kankakee, Illinois

I meet with Robert L Scroggins on 3/22/11 to purchase a 2006 Chevy Impala LS(blue) with the down payment of $1000 down to drive of the lot. The transaction was made and paperwork was complete without co-signer signature.

On 3/26/11 I recieved a phone calll stating that the original co-signer didn't want to co-sign and that I needed another co-signer. Later that day my fiance Brittitney Stubblefield went with me back up to Kankakee Auto Mart to co-sign for my vehicle.

Robert L Scrogggins took a look at her check stubs and said everything looked ok and that he was going to have my fiance come in that following Monday to sign the paperwork because they couldn't start the paperwork until Monday

On 3/30/11 my fiance took me to work at 6:00 am because she needed the vehicle to take care of somethings for work and school. Around 1:30 pm, she discovered someone wearing a black hoody that match the same one that i was wearing pulling off in the vehicle.

I was leaving work at 4:30 pm when i discovered that my fiance wasn't outside waiting for me. I hurried to the house where my cousin that works with me(troy stampley) dropped me off in the back of my house and i discoverd that the vehicle wasn't there

I knocked on the door were my fiance rushed down the stairs and i aske her "where is the car", and she responded by saying "i thought you came and took it on your lunch break". At that time she called the Kankakee Police Department to report a stolen vehicle.

The officer arrived at our house and we re-told the story to him. During that my fiance and I came to the conclusion that somebody with a spare key has to take the vehicle. We were ask did we want to go to the place where I got the car to see if it was there.

Once we arrived the police officer, my fiance, and I searched the premises to see if we could see the car. Once we didnt find anything the police officer ran m VIN number and we discovered that the vehicle wasn't in my name nor the place where i leased the car.

3/31/11 my fiance and i went back up to Kankakee auto mart to talk to Robert L scroggins with an police officer. The police officer talked to the owner and he admited on taking the car and was given a option on giving us back the car or the money we put down on the vehicle.

Later that day we went back up to kankakee auto mart where the owner was there and we asked him if we could get our vehicle back with another co-signer or our $1000 back and he refused to do either or because he said" we gave him a hard time now he has a attitude and he's not giving us anything back. The police officer that was there told hime he has to do either or and he also refused.
