We own several rental properties.  We were looking for a way to give information to prospective tenants without having to answer the phone 40 times a day; most prospects lose interest when they find out they cannot rent it for a song, or that we check their credit and references.  We found Hotline America while searching the internet for a way to not have to talk to 40 people a day, when only 2 or 3 people were really interested in the rental property.  Hotline America offered a toll free number and up to 25 mailboxes for you to give audio information to prospective tenants.  The way the Hotline America website read, we thought there was no limit in providing information to prospective tenants and the number of phone calls you received from prospective tenants.  The service was advertised at $15.95 per month, with no contract and we could cancel at any time.

Signed up and after about 3 months we received a phone call saying we were using too many minutes.  We checked our logs and found the average was about 5 minutes a day.  When we quizzed them about how many minutes were allowed, they refused to tell us.  Tried to bill us for the minutes we had used so far, which we refused to do.  We cancelled the service.  Fortunately, we had not had time to order signs with the toll-free number, or we would have been stuck with useless signs.

We will have to find another way to disseminate information to prospective tenants.

We certtainly do NOT recommend Hotline America!
