In late Jan. we purchased a new 2000 Chevy Astro Conversion van. Upon pick up we noticed rust on the underneath, we brought it back and they painted it. When we first started to drive the van we noticed a crackling sound from the passenger window or there abouts. They tried to fix it and then the sound went all across the front and to the drivers door. There was also now a high pitched sound from the engine.

They tried to fix the noise again, a little better but it still made noise. The high pitched sound was still there and the brakes were squeaking so they put in new brakes (on a 2000 van). Well, the noise was still there in the on the drivers door and the brakes still squeaked and now we found that there was a rattle over the drivers side rear wheel well, and the high pitched sound was still there and there was now a water leak on the step of the drivers doors after a rain.

Van went back again and again, we had new brakes put in, the rotors were cut once already because they said they were rusty, they said the high pitched noise was from the power steering and that the van needed a cool weather fluid put in, so they ordered it. They couldn't fix the lead in the drivers door the two times it went in, but yesterday, it had leaked again and it went back - hopefully this time it is fixed.

They put in the new power steering fluid but now had to change the gear box. The noise across the front seems better but the sound of wind is soooooo loud. They may have fixed the rattle over the wheel well, and the high pitched sound is still coming from the engine, but a little lower.

We have the van 2 months today, and its been to the shop six or seven times. We think maybe it was sitting in water while in storage for all those things to be rusty. Why did we need new brakes, rotors cut, and gear box changed on a brand new, never owned vehicle. Can you help? Thank you, Roberta
