Every prescription I get or my friends would get, there is absolutely NO SAVINGS! Actually that's not true. There was one prescription that cost $78.75 without the Peoples Prescription Plan, and with the card the drugs cost $78.49. Wow! what great savings!

I have been trying to use this card for over 3 months now. My local pharmacy said, 'I've rarely seen any discount to speak of with that card!'

Thank you for a great forum!

Rebuttal:
I have used the Peoples Prescription Plan card for several months now. I am an RN in a small community hospital,
but have very poor health care insurance without prescription coverage. I don't know what area you are from, but I'm from the mid-Michigan area and have had very good results with it.
I have saved at least 25% on every prescription I have filled and I have not had any problems using it.

Our pharmacists say the discount varies with the drug you are prescribed and if there is a generic form or not.
I, myself, am very happy with this plan and I recommend it to my patients who do not have prescription coverage.
And, no, I do not receive any type of 'kickback' for this--I am just trying to help out my patients.

:::::::::::EDITORS NOTE:

I just called Target and Wal-Mart Pharmacy. In short, they would disagree with your REBUTTAL. I gave them both a list of 10 drugs from friends and family. Drugs like Authrotec, Prilosec, Evista, and Diovan and others. Savings ranged form 5 cents to a $1.10. The $1.10 was on a drug that was going to cost $146.00. Four of the drugs there was no discount offered.

Not A Rip Off for Me

I HAVE JUST BEEN ON THE PALN FOR ONE MONTH AND I ALREADY HAVE SAVED $24 ON MY PRESCRIPTION. I HAVE ONE PERSCRIPTION THAT COST $34 AND WITH THE PLAN,I GOT IT FOR $10.46. WOW! THAT WAS A SAVING AND I SAVED IT AT CVS PHRAMCY. YOU NEED TO SHOP AROUND AND FIND THE CHEAPEST PRICES TO BEGIN WITH. THIS $10.46 WAS FOR 60 PILLS. PLUS IT STATES IN THE LETTER THAT ACTUAL SAVINGS MAY VARY BY PRESCRIPTION PURCHASED AND PHARMACY LOCATION. SO TO ME AND MY FAMILY IT IS NOT A RIP OFF, ESPICALLY WHEN YOUR HUSBAND IS RECOVERING FROM AN OPERATION AND THINGS ARE TIGHT, $24 EXTRA CAME IN HANDY AND THE PLAN DONE PAID FOR ITSELF.

SAVING A LOT !

I have used the Prescription Plan for a few years and have saved hundreds of dollars. It all depends on the medication. Should discuss with your Dr. or Pharmist on what medications have the most savings, there may be another medication that does the same thing that offers a greater savings.

Concerned Subscriber

I am very concerned about the Peoples Health Plan. But it seems that two positive responses override one negative response. For Americans who are faced who are working but can't afford insurance from the company and yet can't recieve medicaid for a variety of reasons, we are relying on programs such as these to assist in filling the void needed for health coverage. Thank you, for this site. I did a search for this program 'Peoples Health Plan' because I recieved a card in mail for enrollment. I wanted to check it out and your site popped up. I am gonna try it because I am a diabetic with no insurance, so its worth a try. I let you know the results of my experience. Thanks again.

PEOPLE'S PRESCRIPTION PLAN IS MORE A MARKETING TOOL THAN A SAVINGS PLAN

Both of my in-laws are diabetic and have multiple medical problems. Both are on Medicare and have so-called 'Medigap', which no longer pays for their prescriptions. Being that my mother-in-law has to take tamoxifen (which is incredibly expensive), they were desperate, so they signed up for the People's Prescription Plan. Have they saved anything other than pennies from it? No. But they are now apparently on the pharmaceutical companies mailing lists and get lots of mailings about new medications, etc.

I finally was able to get them on a discount program through the pharmaceutical companies themselves. Some of the big names are giving seniors and others big discounts if they qualify for their program. They are calling it a 'give back'. With their obscene profits, I call it a 'tax break.'

Response to Rip off Report

I have had Peoples Prescription Plan for several months. Here is what I have learned:

1. You must be careful which pharmacy you use. I called Publix, and the prescription was $78.00. I then called Eckerd, and the same prescription was $41.00, both with the plan.

2. You must be careful of what your physician is prescribing. I have noticed that a lot of doctors are prescribing 'new' drugs, that aren't necessarily better, but are only available in a brand name, and are A LOT more expensive.

Watching for the above items, I have been able to save quite a bit, as opposed to full price, if I did not have insurance

NOT A RIPOFF

I HAVE BEEN ON THE PEOPLES PRESCRIPTION PLAN FOR 2 YEARS. I SAVE AN AVERAGE OF 975.00 A YEAR ON MY PRESCRIPTIONS I MUST TAKE EVERYDAY. I ALSO SAVE ON EXTRA PRESCRIPTIONS I HAVE TO BUY WHEN I GET ILL. I THINK THIS PLAN IS GREAT FOR PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF WHO CAN NO LONGER AFFORD AN OUTLANDISHLY PRICED HMO OR PERSONAL INSURANCE. THANK YOU PEOPLES PRESCRIPTION PLAN.

New Peoples Benefit mailer is misleading

I just received a mailer for the 'Senior Security Prescription Plan' from Peoples Benefit Services and believe that it is intentionally misleading.

The mailer is obviously designed to look very much like an official Social Security or Medicare-related communication. In fact, I initially thought that this was a new prescription plan offered through the Social Security Administration.

Only at the very end of the mailer is there is a disclaimer that the program is 'not affiliated with the Social Security Administration.'

I have no idea whether the plan is a good one, but their misleading advertising makes me very suspicious.

Thank You
