How to get Rip-off Revenge

This relates to a moving contract entered into by my future mother in law - Harriet Jacovtiz - and items that were damaged during that move.

Lee's Moving & Storage, Inc.
7624 NW 6th Ave # 206,
Boca Raton, FL United States 33487
(561)998-0511

PLEASE NOTE:
This company's own claim's email address advertised on its literature does not work. This company claims to be a member of American Red Ball. Kathy McDonald of American Red Ball (kathy@arbt.com) advised us of the following:
'I CAN ONLY ASSUME FROM THE INFORMATION I RECEIVED IN YOUR E-MAIL THAT THE MOVE WAS PERFORMED BY LEE'S MOVING & STORAGE IN BOCA RATON AND WAS A LOCAL MOVE. THIS AGENT WAS TERMINATED WITH AMERICAN RED BALL IN MAY OF 2000'

The BBB web site shows this company as AKA 'American Red Ball'
This is false and misleading information. An out and out lie.
In part, she relied on the credibility of American Red Ball in making her decision to choose this company.

She has been corresponding with Michael regarding her claim for items damaged by this mover during a move that took place on 12/19/00.
Her claim was filed on 1/22/01. It is now 9 months since the claim was filed. She is upset and tired of being constantly given the run around. Who can blame her?

She has been stalled, put off and misled to the point where a normally calm senior citizen, collapses into tears whenever she tries to resolve this matter. This company soiled, damaged and ruined some of her most prized possessions. One of the lamps broken by these very careful and competent movers cannot be repaired or replaced.

She paid for EXTRA INSURANCE and they still have the unmitigated gall to refuse to settle her claim.
You should be ashamed of yourselves! What a surprise that your industry has the reputation that it does.
No wonder the county had to pass a moving ordinance.

They owe her $745 + the cost of cleaning my couches, a mica repair and a piece of mica that was taken by one of their employees as a sample.

Lee's Moving & Storage,Inc. is one of the most reputable moving companies in the state of Florida.

This is in response to Ms. Schipske's completely false allegations regarding her boyfriend's mother Ms. Jacovitz.

Ms. Jacovitz filed a claim with Lee's in late February of 2001. She moved from Boca Raton to Boynton Beach on December 19,2000. Obviously this would be considered a local move. Being an agent for American Red Ball has absolutely nothing to do with local moves. It is for interstate moves only.

Ms. Schipske wrote to Kathy McDonald at Red Ball and Kathy responded with, 'The move was performed by Lee's Moving & Storage in Boca Raton and was a local move.' Exactly. Local moves have nothing to do with our association with American Red Ball.

Ms. Jacovitz claims there was so many problems but still gave the men a $60 tip for their work. She did purchase $5000 Transit Insurance but most of the items she claimed was damaged were not covered.

Transit Insurance covers any damage done by 'transit.' Lee's only packed three mirror cartons. She did her own packing. We cannot be liable for the way she packed her boxes. At the end of the move she signed the Bill of Lading saying 'Shipment Was Received In Good Condition Except As Noted!' There was nothing noted. Before signing this a shipper with Transit Insurance must look at all of the boxes and furniture to see if any type of damage was done to any boxes, (i.e., boxes bent, crushed, wet, etc.) or to any furniture. Ms. Jacovitz claims her sofas were badly soiled even though they were shrink wrapped and she did not notice it until two months later.
Everyone knows what type of reputation the Moving Industry has but doesn't want to talk about the deceiving consumer.

It's too easy for customers to have things that are already broken moved and to then have them fixed at the moving companies expense. I do not believe this is the case with Ms. Jacovitz though. She packed her things unknowingly improperly and then and assumed that she would be covered.

All her boxes were delivered in 'Good Condition' or she would not have signed for it.

Lee's received the same letter that was posted on this website by Ms. Schipske, except one thing had been changed. Here she says Lee's owes Ms. Jacovitz $745 but in the letter we received it read, 'You owe her a paltry $185 against her original claim.' This we acknowledge so we sent her a check for $200 but have gotten no response.
This is in no way an insult to Ms. Jacovitz, but to slam this moving company on a website with false information is not right.

This company has been in business for over twenty years and almost all of the business we receive is referrals or repeat customers. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau, Delray Beach & Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce and are now an agent for Paul Arpin Van lines. We could not have gotten here by ripping people off.

To anybody that is moving in the future and has anything worth any value, have the mover do ALL of the packing and purchase extra Insurance/ Valuation, whatever the company offers.

It's not only a hassle for the customer but to the moving company as well. This way you are responsible for nothing and you will have the right to point the finger at the moving company that you chose.

Just a point I'd like to make

I have no knowledge of the complaint, so I can't have an intelligent opinion on whether the woman who wrote it is right, or you are.

However, you state that the shipper must check the shipped goods for damage for the insurance. Now I ask you, how many shippers are really going to bother with this?

It's not really in their interest as it takes more time, and it's likely to tick off the customer if they say 'Um, ma'm I'm sorry but we just busted your priceless, irreplacable lamp, which incidently, your insurance doesn't cover'. Bye bye tip, hello headache.

My contention is that from what I've seen, after a move the movers just want to 'get the hell out of dodge', and they aren't interested in hanging around inspecting everything.

I've dealt with movers 3 times in the last 2 years, and I can tell you not one hung around to check stuff out. So, maybe you do, but my experience is that you would be in the minority here.

Thank You
