On Jan. 20, 2002, Epinions.com knowingly published on their website - http://www.epinions.com/content_53469679236 - a letter that has been designed to libel and defame our excellent reputation in the auto shipping industry. They cannot even locate the author of the letter some ten days after our attorney wrote a letter to Eric Goldman, the general counsel at Epinions.com that the letter was libelous and defamatory, and that it needed to be removed by Feb. 4th. Mr Goldman replied with 'Unfortunately, we're not in a position to determine the veracity of any particular review. There's no rule prohibiting your competitor from posting a review on our site if they are telling the truth; in fact, a competitor's perspective can be an extremely useful contribution to the discourse.' So, in Epionions' opinion, they feel it is perfectly O.K. if a competitor, who has never had any business dealings with us whatsoever, writes a 100% false story of what a horrible experience shipping an automobile with our company was...SOLELY for the purpose of driving business away from Allen Auto Transport. This is nothing less than a hoax designed to libel, defame and damage our company...with the blessings of Epinion's very own general counsel, Eric Goldman.

I have responded to the letter on four different attempts to get him to realize the false and defamatory nature of what their company is condoning...to absolutely no avail (see http://www.epinions.com/content_53469679236/show_~allcom). No honest business should ever have to defend itself for something that NEVER OCCURED!! I have also filed a report to the Better Business Bureau of San Mateo County in Millbrae, CA. I have notified numerous television consumer advocate shows to do a story on Epinions.com's unscrupulous business practices. If you can do anything to bring this matter to the public's attention to maybe turn up the heat, that would be fine with me.
