My 8 year old son took about 10 N64 games to Game X Change to get in-store credit to be used to purchase used video games.

At the time we checked out, my son still had $15.00 of unused credit. The store clerk hand wrote a receipt that stated the games my son purchased and the said '$15.00 gift certificate'.

The following week we returned to the store and picked out another video game to buy. When I presented my receipt that I thought would show my son's $15.00 credit, I was told that I needed to have an actual gift certificate, not the receipt. The store clerk from the week before never game me a gift certificate and the store apparently does not keep records of who they fill out gift certificates for. So in a nutshell, the store clerk knowingly kept the $15.00 credit for himself.

The store refused to give my son the credit and was very insensitve to my son who was crying by that time because he thought he had $$ to buy the games he wanted. It is very hard for an 8 year old to understand that a place of business could steal his money and then be so rude and unfriendly about it. We will never shop there again and I've told this story to every parent I know that shops there or has thought about shopping there.

all Game X CHange stores are individually owned and opperated and service can change from store to store.

I'm sorry that you feel that you have been cheated out of fifteen dollars. It is unfotunate that the Game X Change employees that you had to deal with were so unhelpful. The problem is that all Game X CHange stores are individually owned and opperated and service can change from store to store. I can tell you that to my knowlage all Game X Change store keep a log of 'ALL' gift certificates that are sold.

Once again I am sorry about your experience was so bad and I hope it wont effect your view about all Game X Change stores..

We own and operate 3 stores in Missouri two in Springfield and one in St Robet.

Don't judge all Game X Change stores buy this, they are all independently owned!

I work for the Game X Change stores in Bloomington and Springfield, Illinois and we work our hardest to make sure each customer recieves good service. The store owners are always working on keeping their prices fair for trade in and for retail prices. We can't always be the lowest price in town but we try to have the best possible prices we can. You can recieve store coupons for the Illinois stores by emailing them at: gxcofil@aol.com

Even worse experience

I bought a Sony PSP from the Bloomington Il store and had an even worse experience. When I checked out the PSP at home I went to connect it up to my home wireless network. As soon as I began the search for local networks I received an error code of 80410aob. I googled this error code expecting that I had done something incorrectly but all the reports I read that this was a fatal wireless error that was not fixable. At this point I knew I was returning the PSP the next day expecting my credit card to be reimbursed sine the price of the total PSP package was $139.99 + tax.

My wife went into the store the next day, since she was the one who bought the PSP, to return the system. The female manager, Theresa I think was her name, was more then rude to her. She took the PSP and told her that it was not broke and pulled up a blank internet browser and said 'See, it's not broke.' My wife not being technically savvy thought that the problem was fixed and called me with the great news. I then told her it was not a problem of bringing up a blank web browser but the problem was getting a connection and bringing up an actual web page. She said the manager couldn't do that because the store was a brick building and they didn't get wireless signal. She did comment that her overall tone during this conversation was more than rude and snippy.

I then took my lunch break that day to go find out what was going on and try to return the PSP myself. When I went in and saw the manager I reported that the wireless was not working. The lady rudly grabbed the PSP from me and brought up the browser and said see nothing is wrong with it. I told her that was not where I was getting the error code. She then gave me the same excuse that they don't recieve wireless connection. I told her that you don't need wireless signal to get the error I was getting. I tried to show her on the PSP but she yanked it away from me and would not let me show her where the error was happening. She then said it was because I didn't have a memory card.

So I offered to buy one from her if she can prove the error won't come up. She ten said that it was because I was searching for a wireless connection and not entering my SSID for my router.... Now I am technically savvy and got a chuckle out of this. So I tried explaining to her that it doesn't matter if I search or try to enter in an SSID I will get the same error code. I should not have to do that.

She then said 'FINE, I'll just give you store credit.' Really... $139.99 in store credit, after the experience I just had. I told her that was not acceptable. We disagreed for another 5 minutes on this topic and I was losing my patience quickly... yes I was rude to her, my bad. Needless to say I left the store (with the PSP) and called my credit card company. Apparently they can not help in a situation like this due to the stores return policy.

I did go back to the store and return the PSP for store credit a few minutes later but I really don't have a desire to shop here anymore after this happened. Rude service and I feel there really isn't a great deal of confidence in the product this store offers anymore.

So here is my final thought and a call to lawyers as this idea came to me on my drive home. How many times has this happened in the past? How many times has this particular PSP been sold before? See where I am going with this.... Sell junk items for high dollar, have the customer return it for store credit and you still made that money one way or another.

Call to action, if this has happened to you before please email me. I see a class action lawsuit and a fraudulent business.
