Ripoff Report Verified Safe

Volkswagen Of Sunnyvale Volkswagen ripoff car service under full warranty .....

I have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta thats been giving me a lot of air-conditioner trouble. About 8 months back I noticed a mildewy smell after I turned off the ac and left the blower on. I informed Volkswagen Sunnyvale about this problem during the 15,000 mile service and they told me that the smell was due to mildew growth in the pipe of the airconditioner and they would remove the spores with some special treatment. When I asked about the reason for the growth, they told me that it was because of my usage of the airconditioner where i turn it on and off during a drive.

I took his advice and drove with the car, always maintaining an ac or a non-ac environment in the car. Two months later, the smell came back. I called up Volkswagen Sunnyvale and told them about this problem and that I wanted a solution. The rep. told me that the smell was owing to operator usage and not due to the car and when I told him that I no longer switched between ac and non-ac he told me that it was because I used max ac. I told him that i would no longer use max ac (and no longer switch between ac and non-ac) during the ride and also put on the blower 5 minutes after I used the ac. I asked him to fix the smelly ac and he told me it would cost me $150 to fix. I told him that my car was still within warranty and it was covered under such repairs. He went on to tell me that the smell was because of operator error and not due to the car.

This struck me as totally unreasonable. Here I have a car with a ac with a problem and the service rep refuses to service it under warranty.

I am unsure about what I can do to get my ac fixed...I have no means of getting in touch with Volkswagen, the service center folks are rude and I m stuck with a smelly car
