Massillon, OhioI have several charge accounts with various banks and retail outlets. They offer the convenience of paying via the internet and do not charge the fees that this bank does.
First Premier started by not charging consumers to pay on the internet, then they started charging $5.00 and then raised it to $7.00. When I got my statement, I found that not only were they charging that fee but they were also charging a $5.00 'Participation Fee'!
So, out of a $100 payment done on the internet, the actual amount posted to my account would be closer to $80.00, adding in the monthly finance charge. No wonder people are stuck with paying credit cards forever.
I even asked them if I cancel my card and still make payments on it would I be charged for the $5.00 'participation fee' and they said yes!
I won't be using the card but they would continue to charge me. What kind of crap is that? They are making money hand over fist and I think it's wrong. Is there anything I can do about this? Isn't it illegal or something???
